Since the terrain can be hard and the days long, hikers on these treks should be in good physical condition and have some previous mountain walking experience. Steep climbing may be involved, although it is never necessary to use ropes. Treks at this level can he arranged for periods of 16 to 21 days. Typically, a gradual ascent through a green river valley will lead you up to a number of high passes, where you will reach the altitude of 5416m. Often times, you will get a close insight into the Tibetan culture. Participants should expect to trek above 5416m/17872ft.

Kala Patthar

It is not long before you quick look your first view of Everest as it peeks above the Lhotse-Nuptse ridge before Namche,  after a day acclimatisation in Namche then further up to the Gokyo Lakes and Everest Base camp.

Equipment for Gokyo Valley Trek

Recheck your Equipment list after planning to Gokyo Valley  – Everest Trek. Make sure you have enough gear to be warm and comfortable but without overloading. Usually, you will experience warm days and cold nights depending on altitude and the time of year. For footwear, best walking boots with suitable ankle support that have been worn-in prior to the trek, and which are waterproof, warm socks, Gaiters for the winter season, loose casual trousers, Thermal Leggings, a Long skirt for women, trousers, and Waterproof trousers. For body Selection of T-shirts, and long sleeved shirts, preferably not cotton, Thermal shirt, warm shirt, possibly Fleece, Fleece jacket or warm wool jumper. Windproof, waterproof outer higher altitudes, Down jacket Sleeping Bag (optional for cold nights & mornings; can be hired in Kathmandu cheaply) and for head and hand, Wool or fleece hat, or balaclava. Hat or cap for sun protection while trekking, Sunglasses or goggles, Warm gloves, sun cream.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrive international airport in Kathmandu, transport to selected hotel at Thamel 3 star category.
  • Day 02: Fly to Lukla early morning (2800 meters. 35 minutes) and trek to Phakding (2640 meters. 3 hours walking) and stay overnight at Lodge
  • Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440 meters.6/7 hours walking) stay overnight at Lodge
  • Day 04: Rest day in Namche Bazaar acclimatisation explore around Sherpa village
  • Day 05: Trek to Dole 5 hours walk, overnight at lodge
  • Day 06: Trek to Machhermo (3820 meters. 5/6 hours walking) stay overnight at Lodge
  • Day 07: Trek to Gokyo (4760 meters..) 4 hours walking) stay overnight at Gokyo hamlet
  • Day 08: Visit Gokyo Peak (5560 meters.) in the morning (4 ½ hours walking) stay overnight at Lodge in Gokyo
  • Day 09: Trek to tang NAK 5 hours walk, overnight at lodge
  • Day 10: Trek to Zhong la via Chola Pass (5320 meters. 6/7 hours walking) stay overnight at lodge
  • Day 11: Trek to Lobuche (4930 meters. 4 hours walking) stay overnight at Lodge
  • Day 12: Trek to Gorakshep 3 hour walking, same day visit to Everest base camp and back to Gorakshep, overnight at Lodge
  • Day 13: Visit Kalapattar (5545 meters. Early in the morning for the best Everest view) trek back to Lobuche/ or Pheriche (5 /6 hours walking stay Overnight at lodge
  • Day 14: Trek back to Tengboche (3867 meters. 5 hours walking) stay overnight at Lodge
  • Day 15: Trek back to Namche  5 hours walking) stay overnight at Lodge
