Since the terrain can be hard and the days long, hikers on these treks should be in good physical condition and have some previous mountain walking experience. Steep climbing may be involved, although it is never necessary to use ropes. Treks at this level can he arranged for periods of 16 to 21 days. Typically, a gradual ascent through a green river valley will lead you up to a number of high passes, where you will reach the altitude of 5416m. Often times, you will get a close insight into the Tibetan culture. Participants should expect to trek above 5416m/17872ft.

Upper Dolpo Trekking

Upper Dolpo trekking starts from Jhupal and ending in Jomsom pleasing journey into Nepal’s most secluded region which has abruptly become a major destination for trekkers and mountain lovers.

This Trans- Himalayan region of mid- West Nepal includes the freezing settlement of legendary Shey Monastery beyond Phoksundo Lake, the renowned region of snow leopard, blue sheep, and the yak herders awaits you. Upper Dolpo is encircled by immense peaks and adventure several Passes. Kang La (5,380m, SALDANG La (5,060m,  Chharka La (5,015m), higher Sangda La (5,515m),  lower Sangda La (5,035m)

Upper Dolpo trekking is Situated in the western north of Nepal near Tibet border, geologically the region is still within Nepal but ethnically attached to Tibet.

Dolpo is a region of the minority of Buddhist monasteries as well as those of pre-Buddhist religion of Bon Po. The region preserves one of the last leftovers of traditional Tibetan culture. Likewise, a large fraction of Dolpo has been set aside as Shey Phoksundo National Park at 3,555 square kilometres and Shey Gompa near the Tibet. It has been home for blue sheep, Himalayan Black bear, leopards, wolves and the exceptional snow leopards. Moreover, Phoksundo Lake is the highlight of the entire Upper Dolpo trek which is more than 1500 feet deep. Its water is of turquoise blue colour circled by dense forest and the snow-capped Himalayas.
