The Gokyo Ri trek was simply incredible! The scenery was breathtaking, and the itinerary was perfectly balanced between training and rest. My guide, Diku Sherpa, was fantastic—knowledgeable, kind, and fun. It felt like hiking with a friend. Himal did an amazing job coordinating everything, responding quickly to all my questions. I can’t recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking enough, and I already plan to return. Thank you!
Puja was an incredible guide during my 10-day Annapurna Base Camp trek via Poon Hill. She made everything effortless and fun with her bubbly personality. Thanks to Nepal Wilderness for organizing such a smooth experience—I highly recommend booking your trek with them!
We did 8 Days Tengboche Trekking (Everest region) with Nepal Wilderness Trekking in April 2024, it was an amazing experience. Booking with Himal was simple and easy—he provided us with all the information we needed.
Our guide, Diku Sherpa, was fantastic! She managed our trek with great advice, deep knowledge, and a wonderful sense of humor.
We highly recommend Diku as a guide and Nepal Wilderness Trekking to anyone looking for an unforgettable adventure.
I have just finished my 4-day trek to Poon Hill. The trek is great, it goes through a lot of forest and jungle and in between you always have a view of the mountains, which impresses me every time.
My guide Bhawana made the trek even better, she is a very experienced guide and just super friendly. I am very happy that I was able to do my trek with her!
Exceptional Langtang Valley Trekking with Nepal Wilderness Trekking
Solo Female Traveler
From the start, the manager, Himal, was quick and patient with all my questions. Booking the trip was effortless.
I requested a female guide and got Diku Sherpa, She was amazing. She was knowledgeable, strong, and familiar with the mountains. Despite the monsoon, Diku adjusted our itinerary for clear views from Kyanjin Ri. When I fell ill, Diku took excellent care of me.
If you are looking for the best company for trekking in Nepal I highly recommend this company.
Highly recommend (the trekking agency and the female Sherpa)
I had been planning an Everest Base Camp trip for a year and was initially concerned about traveling solo. However, Himal arranged for a female Sherpa, Pasang Sherpa, who made me feel comfortable and took excellent care of me. She was incredibly strong and resilient. The hotel booking in Kathmandu, transportation, flight to Lukla, and all trek logistics were well-managed. It was a relief not having to handle any details myself.
We had an amazing five-day ABC trek with our guide, Sujan Tamang, and porter, Karna Gurung. They made sure that all our needs were met and allowed us to go at our own pace. The food along the trek was fantastic, and Sujan taught us a lot about the mountains and Nepalese culture. It was a pleasure to have them with us, and we highly recommend this trip with the company.
We just completed a 4-day Poon Hill trek with Nepal Wilderness Trekking and had a fantastic time! The trek was well-organized, and the pre-departure admin was super nice. Our guide, Bhim Ghale, made the trek enjoyable and taught us ‘Dumbal,’ Nepal’s favorite card game, for evening fun. Thanks to everyone at Nepal Wilderness Trekking for a great trip!
I recently hiked the Pikey Peak Trail. While mostly easy, some parts were challenging, adding to the adventure. Our guide, Lukpa Sherpa, shared local cultures, stunning mountain views, and hidden Himalayan gems.
Highly recommended for beginners—just pick the right season!
I recently went on a memorable 10-day trek in the Langtang region, with Rajesh Gurung from Nepal Wilderness Trekking as my guide / porter. Rajesh did a fantastic job. I appreciated so much his carrying my pack (as well as his own), but was equally grateful for the care and attention he showed along the way in making sure I had what I needed at each overnight teahouse stop. He knew the trails and villages well, and was great in providing encouragement when I was struggling up another long ascent (or down a steep descent). His spoken English – which is much better than my non-existent Nepali – continued to improve as we spent time together. I recommend him highly. I also recommend the Nepal Wilderness Trekking company more broadly. Himal Ghale in Kathmandu was responsive and efficient in helping me put my trek together, at short notice. There are many trekking agencies in Kathmandu, not all of them reliable. But this is definitely one of the good ones.
We did a 7 day hike in langtang valley and it was the most amazing experience ever! The landscape and nature is so beautiful and we’ve been very lucky with the weather and had awesome views! Our guide was super nice, very friendly and knowledgeable about the area etc. We had a wonderful time and can definitely recommend this trip! 🙂
I had an incredible 14-day trek with Bhawana through Langtang National Park and the Tamang Heritage Area. Nepal Wilderness Trekking was easy to communicate with before my trek, and Bhawana exceeded all expectations as a guide. As a solo female traveler, I was delighted to have a female guide who was not only skilled but also easy to connect with. Bhawana took great care of me, ensuring excellent food and lodging choices. I gained valuable insights into local culture and nature and marveled at the stunning landscape and people. Bhawana’s itinerary adjustments were perfect, revealing hidden gems I wouldn’t have found alone. Her expertise allowed me to reach higher altitudes without altitude sickness. I’m thrilled with my experience and would eagerly use Nepal Wilderness Trekking and Bhawana again in the future.
Had wounderful trip, with Nepal wilderness guide Rajesh Gurung. He was patient and was always looking out for me. We did the Langtang valley trek, with 5 days in the mountains. All in all a beautiful experience. Highly recomment this company.
We recently completed the Langtang trek with our guide DB and porter Lak Kumar Rai. The trek was absolutely stunning, and the service provided was exceptional. Both the guide and porter were incredibly accommodating, tailoring the schedule to our preferences, assisting us in wildlife spotting, sharing fascinating insights, and arranging fantastic food and accommodations along the way. We highly recommend booking with Nepal Wilderness Trekking if you’re planning a trekking adventure in Nepal!
I just completed the 7 days Langtang valley trek. Langtang is like a piece of heaven. From day 2, the trek follows the river all the way to the source- a massive glacier. Along the trek, i saw yaks, jopkos, monkeys and spotted a wild boar too. It was just amazing. The view from Kyanjin Ri was definitely the cherry on top! My guide, Lal, is extremely knowledgeable and familiar with the route, the little villages and surroundings.
My partner and I had a brilliant time on our 4 day trek with our guide, Yakub Ghale, and porter Rajesh. Everything over the 4 days was perfectly organised but also with some flexibility if needed too! Yakub was so friendly, kind and caring throughout the trek. He took such good care of us and walked at our pace (we were slow!!) We had a great time talking and joking on the way (“only a little up”) We would highly recommend Wilderness Trekking and especially Yakub (we will miss you!) Keep in touch, Rachel
We did 4-day Ghandruk trek as a first initiation into trekking with our children (8 & 10 years). Our guide Yakub Ghale was a gem, very organized and flexible to meet our needs. Great with the kids and a fantastic source of local knowledge. Our pre-trip communication with Himal was also prompt and spot on, absolutely professional. We highly recommend this company for your life time memory, everyone who are looking for doing the trekking in Nepal .
Me and my partner just completed the 4-day Poon Hill trek – a loop from Birethati to Syauli Bazaar (via Ulleri, Ghorepani and Ghandruk) with our guide Sabin Ghale and porter Sudip. Both were super helpful, cheerful and accommodating. (Sabin was a very competent guide and, lucky for us, has very strong English. He was also very patient with our many photo stops and rest breaks.) The trip itself was well organized and the accommodations were good. Although we did not get a clear view of the mountains because of the cloud cover, the trails themselves were beautiful, and we passed through a number of different microclimates – with a variety of flora – along the way. We highly the company and this recommend this tour.

Both were super helpful, cheerful and accommodating. (Sabin was a very competent guide and, lucky for us, has very excellent English. The trip itself was well organized and the accommodations were good. Wonderful 4 day trekking experience, highly recommended!
My husband and I had an amazing experience on our 4 day Ghorepani Poon Hill trek! We enjoyed good views of mountains, valleys, waterfalls and nature, and were lucky enough to see the beautiful Rhododendrons in full bloom all around us on our trek. The views on our sunrise hike up to Poon Hill were breathtaking and we were able to see all the great peaks of Annapurna range. Our guide DB and our porter were both wonderful. Our guide took time to share with us about local life and culture, explaining what we saw along the way such as the farms, working animals, hydro power plant. The lodging was comfortable and met our needs. Our guide gave us good recommendations on what to order for our meals (included in the package), especially the local dishes, and all the food we had was delicious. We would highly recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking for anyone looking to experience Nepal’s great outdoors. They were very easy to work with from my first communication on WhatsApp and answered my questions promptly and patiently. The guide was also always attentive to our needs and flexible to make adjustments to the plan to suit our preferences. We are already thinking about when we next want to come back, and we’ll be sure to look for Nepal Wilderness again for our next trip here!
Overall, my trek on the Everest 3 passes was fantastic, largely due to the great company and especially the wonderful guide!
I highly recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking. Himel was incredibly responsive, helping me arrange my trip with just a week’s notice. Many other operators I spoke with wanted to steer me toward a less challenging route in February, but Himal and I decided to give the 3 passes a shot, agreeing to adjust plans if needed for safety. When I arrived in Kathmandu, Himal warmly greeted me at his office, provided the necessary gear (like a sleeping bag, jacket and crampons), and set me up for the journey ahead.
I had an incredible experience with my guide, Naba Raj Rai, whom I would also strongly recommend. His deep knowledge of the region enriched the trek, and he consistently ensured my safety. Naba and I frequently discussed our route, making adjustments as necessary or requested, which significantly enhanced the journey. Moreover, Naba’s assistance with logistics and carrying loads made the trek far more enjoyable. Thank you, Naba!
We went on a special 4-day trip to Poon Hill with our three kids (ages 15, 12, and 8). It was amazing! Himal helped us a lot before the trip, especially when we needed last-minute transportation to Pokhara. Once we got there, DB, our guide, and his team made sure we had a great time. The views were stunning, and each day was different. Day three was the best – waking up at 4 am was tough, but watching the sunrise from Poon Hill made it all worth it!
My partner and I did Mardi Himal trekwith our amazing guide BK (Balkrishna Nachhiring). He is friendly and positive attitude kept us going the whole time. He taught us a lot about the animals and plants in the forest and took care of us from start to finish. I highly recommend this company.
My Mardi Himal trek was an unforgettable experience, filled with breathtaking views and charming tea houses. Sujan, my guide, was exceptionally kind, friendly, and supportive throughout the journey. We engaged in numerous captivating conversations, where he imparted knowledge about the Himalayas, Nepalese culture, and language. Sujan’s patience allowed me to set the pace for the trek, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable adventure. Additionally, sharing drinks with Sujan and the team was a delightful highlight of the trip.
The journey to ABC was challenging, but every step was absolutely worth it.
Sujan, our guide, was exceptional. I highly recommend requesting him! His proficiency in English and his ability to handle any situation were remarkable. We even enjoyed a fantastic evening with Sujan Tamang and the team, sharing drinks and stories. Truly amazing guys!
My wife and Mirthe I completed the Three Passes Trek with Nepal Wilderness Trekking and had an amazing time. Upon arrival in Kathmandu we visited several trekking agencies and immediately had a good feeling with Himal, the owner of NWT. We choose his company and are very happy we did. Himal professionally took care of all the organization and we left two days later with our guide Abinta and porter Ram.
Our guide Abinta was very professional, proactive and social and had excellent English skills and a great sense of humour. It often felt like we were on the trail as a group of friends, while we could rely on Abinta for her help and guidance as well.
Ram was a very strong and friendly porter and we could not have completed the trek without him.
Overall, we can recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking for the experience of a lifetime!
I completed Poon Hill trek as a solo female traveler. My guide, Puja Karki, was absolutely fantastic! She was not only friendly and informative but also ensured my safety throughout the journey. Puja was punctual for pick-up and her professionalism was commendable. The company, Nepal Wilderness Trekking, demonstrated great professionalism, and Himal promptly addressed all my inquiries prior to the trip. I highly recommend both Puja as a guide and Nepal Wilderness Trekking to anyone considering this adventure!
Easy to organise with Himal the owner. Nice Guy. I didn’t compare any prices but it seemed very reasonable to me.
Great guide Buddha and smashing porter Raj. Friendly and helpful fellas.
The trek was fantastic despite no good views at Poon Hill sunrise. We had great views from the bottom of Poon Hill and up the valley on the second day. We never got round to training so the steps up and down got us a bit but nothing that a reasonably fit person couldn’t cope with.
I had an incredible experience on the Annapurna Circuit and visiting Tilicho Lake. Juny was a wonderful guide, I felt very safe, happy and looked after and we had a lot of fun together. Organizing and booking the trip with Himal was a very smooth and easy process. Thank you so much Juny and Himal!
I just got back from doing the 4-day Poon Hill Trek, which included stays in Uleri, Ghode Pani, and Tadapani. The walks and scenery were breathtaking, and although basic, the accommodation had a rustic charm. The food provided varied in quality from place to place but it was always adequate and, more importantly, filling!
I have to give a special shout out to our guide Yakub who, along with the porters, really bent over backwards for us. My girlfriend got a hip injury on the 3rd day so he even helped coordinate getting a jeep for us on the last day to shorten the journey. He was very friendly and knowledgeable, and i enjoyed chatting with him about his country and the landscape. Himal also did a wonderful job getting all permits in order and always replied to my many emails and questions in rapid fashion.
I would highly recommend this organisation. They were responsive, professional, and good value for money. When i come back to Nepal i would use their service again!
I am SO impressed with this company. As a solo female traveller I was nervous about going out and finding a good guide. I found these guys online and Himal was always quick to answer any and all questions while I hammered out the details of my trip. My guide, Yakub, was kind, knowledgable and so much fun to spend time with. I wouldn’t have been able to do my 5 day trek without him! It didn’t take long to feel like I was trekking with a friend – complete with inside jokes – and I was sad to say goodbye at the end. My only regret was that I hadn’t booked a longer trek… and also not hiring a porter. I would absolutely recommend hiring a porter if you’re on the fence about it! They’re a very dependable and adaptable company and I would recommend them to everyone!
Went ABC trek from Kathmandu with our guide, Yakub! We were well taken care of from the airport transfer to hotels and transport to Pokhara where we started the trek. Yakub is thoughtful and caring and he made sure we were happy and laughing throughout the trek. I had prior knee issues and struggled with the numerous steps but Yakub and our porter, Manjung were sooo patient and walked at my pace. The Nepali service by Yakub and Manjung left us so impressed! Do a trip with them!
Would recommend this trek because the views of the Himalaya mountain region is just stunning!
Had an amazing trip with this trekking company! They were very reliable to book online and were very organised with our itinerary and with providing us with some hiking gear. My friend and I did Everest Base Camp and Chola pass to gokyo lakes and the experience was amazing.
Our guide, Yakub, became like family on our trip. He made sure we were always laughing even when we were on a long day of hiking. He let us set our own pace on the trail, so we could walk as fast or as slow as we liked depending on how we felt at the altitude. Yakub made the trip a once in a life time experience that we will never forget.
The hike it’s self was spectacular! It was towards the end of the hiking season so the lodges were not full, but we still met a range of exciting people. The views of snow capped mountains and the colourful roofed villages were unforgettable.
We highly recommend booking with Himal as the trip was catered flexibly to our hiking experience:)
We had the most amazing trip with our guide Yakub and porter Simon. From the moment they picked us up at the hotel, through a five day trek out of Pokhara. There is no detail they did not think of and they went an extra mile to make the trip memorable, adventurous, and so much fun!! We had so many laughs and happy times. We formed lifelong friendships with the guys and they even managed to arrange a birthday cake in a tiny village along the way. I simply cannot recommend this team highly enough. They are extremely professional, detail oriented, patient and super humorous and an absolute pleasure to be with. We feel so incredibly lucky to have had this team recommended to us and we will certainly be going back for another trip!! They are simply the best!! Make sure to ask for them!
The Langtang Valley trek and DB Basnet was amazing. I had always wanted to go to the Himalayas since I was a child. I finally accomplished this dream with close friends and we brought in the new year, 2023, deep in the Himalayas near Kyanjin Ri.
DB Basnet and his team were very professional and helped us navigate any health emergencies successfully. They were also knew a lot about the local cultures, wildlife, and climate/environmental conditions of the region. We talked at length in a Tibetan teahouse, and this inspired me to want to come back one day.
This trek with Nepal Wilderness trekking even inspired my thesis research on the Hindu Kush Himalaya region! It also gave me a further inspiration to pursue more mountains.
Enjoyed my Mardi Himal trek organised through Nepal Wilderness Trekking. It was easy to organise online and Himal was very prompt in replying to my queries via email.
I ended up doing the trek solo with my guide, Budha. He was always very positive; smiling and laughing throughout our trip. He was also knowledgeable and made an effort to educate and inform me as much as possible. He handled all the organisation at the teahouses and had good rapport with a lot of the owners which made it incredibly easy for me. Perhaps most importantly, we got to the view point (4200m) without any issues! Overall a great experience!
We were very fortunate to have found Himal and booked our trek through him! We had Yakub as our guide and he’s as good as it gets. Both me and my friend are young very inexperienced hikers and both had the time of our lives. Yakub made sure we enjoyed every second of the trek even on the hard days when the stairs made us want cry
Our Annapurna trip was always flexible if we needed to change plans and we were well looked after the entire time. Wouldn’t have wanted to book through anyone else 🙂
My friend and I booked the trip with Nepal wilderness, modified Three Passes Trek with the Everest Base Camp add-on, and it was truly an incredible experience! Our guide, Yakub, played a crucial role in making this trip so memorable for us. His attentive care and wealth of knowledge made all the difference.
We encountered a travel delay with our flights into Lukla at the start of our journey, but Yakub handled it brilliantly. He remained positive and quickly arranged an alternative, ensuring that our trip proceeded smoothly.
Thanks to his efforts, we were able to fully enjoy our adventure without any hiccups. It was an unforgettable journey!
Our Nepal trip was spontaneous, planned at the last minute. Thanks to Himal, we were able to go on the Everest View Trek with short notice.
Our guide, Yakub Ghale, took excellent care of us, ensuring an amazing and unforgettable experience.
The package included thrilling flights to and from Lukla, along with a guide and a porter. We stayed in cozy teahouses along the trail and enjoyed three meals a day. Warm sleeping bags were provided for a comfortable night’s sleep.
Just remember, trekking can be physically challenging due to high altitudes, low temperatures, and several hours of walking each day, so be prepared for that.
begin on a 14-day trek to Everest Base Camp, Cho La Pass, and Gokyo was an extraordinary journey, made all the more memorable by my exceptional guide, Prayash Rai. The pre-trek organization was straightforward, securing a jeep alongside Prayash to reach the Everest region.
Throughout the hike, Prayash proved to be an invaluable companion, effortlessly addressing my numerous inquiries about the mountains, plants, animals, and cultural nuances in fluent English. His constant attention to my well-being, especially at higher altitudes, showcased his reliability and friendly demeanor.
The natural beauty and majesty of the mountainside were nothing short of breathtaking. I wholeheartedly recommend undertaking this tour, and specifically with Prayash Rai, for an unparalleled experience.
Chola Pass Trek Excellence with Nepal Wilderness Trekking
Embarking on the Chola Pass Trek with Nepal Wilderness Trekking was an exceptional experience. The expertise of Mingmar Tamang, our guide, added a unique dimension to the journey. From captivating landscapes to the camaraderie within the group, every aspect was unforgettable. Nepal Wilderness Trekking’s meticulous planning and Mingmar’s guidance made this adventure truly outstanding. Highly recommended.
An Extraordinary Trek with Nepal Wilderness Trekking Pvt. Ltd.
Our recent adventure to Annapurna Base Camp via Poon Hill withNepal Wilderness Trekking Pvt. Ltd. was an unforgettable experience for our group of 12 travelers from Australia, led by our incredible NWT owner / Guide Himal Ghale. This trek surpassed all expectations, combining breathtaking scenery, impeccable organization, and expert guidance. Here is our review of the Annapurna Base Camp via Poon Hill trek with Nepal Wilderness Trekking and our esteemed guide, Himal Ghale. Right from the planning stages, Nepal Wilderness Trekking Pvt. Ltd. showcased its expertise and professionalism. Himal responded promptly to all our inquiries, provided us with detailed itineraries, and ensured our trip was tailored to our preferences. The company’s commitment to customer satisfaction was evident, making us feel confident and excited about the journey ahead.
Upon meeting our guide, Himal Ghale, we were immediately struck by his friendly demeanor and extensive knowledge of the Annapurna region. His passion for trekking and dedication to providing a safe and enjoyable experience was evident throughout our adventure. Himal’s fluency in English and his ability to connect with the group made our interactions effortless and enjoyable.
The trek commenced in Nayapul, and as we hiked through picturesque villages and terraced fields, Himal Ghale’s insightful commentary about the local culture, traditions, and natural wonders enriched our understanding of the region. His deep-rooted connections with the local communities enabled us to engage meaningfully with the people we encountered along the way, creating lasting memories and fostering cultural exchange.
Reaching Poon Hill for the sunrise view was a highlight of the trek. The sight of the snow-capped Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges bathed in hues of gold was simply awe-inspiring. Himal Ghale’s expertise in timing our ascent to the viewpoint ensured we witnessed this breathtaking spectacle at its finest. His genuine enthusiasm and vast knowledge of the surrounding peaks added an extra layer of wonder to the experience.
Continuing our journey towards Annapurna Base Camp, we encountered diverse landscapes, from dense forests to alpine meadows, accompanied by stunning mountain vistas at every turn. Surrounded by towering peaks, Himal Ghale’s insightful explanations about the geological formations, glaciers, and rich biodiversity of the region deepened our appreciation for this natural marvel. His dedication to our group’s well-being and his ability to create a sense of unity and camaraderie among us made this achievement even more rewarding.
Throughout the trek, the accommodations arranged by Nepal Wilderness Trekking provided a comfortable haven after a day of trekking. The teahouses offered warm hospitality, hearty meals, and opportunities to connect with fellow trekkers. Himal Ghale’s excellent coordination with the teahouse owners ensured smooth logistics and enhanced our overall experience.
If you want to have a magical experience in Nepal, this agency is the way to go! We went on the Annapurna circuit trek with a brilliant guide Hari Gurung – with all his experience, care, kindness, guidance, and suggestions, he made our big dream come true. When we go back to Nepal, we will definitely go on a trek with Hari again.
I went to the Annapurna Circuit Trek with this agency and can recommend them with full confidence. You will have the greatest views in Nepal as well as great guidance from their team. Our guide on the trip was Hari Gurung and he made the holiday smooth and seamless – starting from accommodation down to managing the itinerary to see the greatest parts of the circuit with no acclimatization issues.
100% recommend
Amazing Trekking Experience around the Langtang region
I went on a solo trek for 17 days with Nepal Wilderness. I was interested in a trek not too busy/touristy like ABC or EBC can be, and was recommended by Himal, the owner, to go for the Tamang Heritage, Langtang Valley, and Gosaikunda.
I had the most amazing time and memories! You get to see so much nature, landscape, animals, mountains, and summits, meet actual locals, visit cheese farms, try local food… and have almost all weather possible from hot to cold to rain and snow on the way.
My guide, Milan, was more than I could ask for! He is very caring, and reliable, takes care of everything, and makes sure your trek is smooth and enjoyable. It was a true and fun adventure we had together! Thank you!
Trekking in eastern Nepal includes Kanchenjunga north (5134m) and south (4800m) base camps as well as the snow-driven Sinelapche pass at 4840m. From dense fir, juniper, and rhododendron forests to high-plane yak pastures, wobbly suspension bridges, waterfalls, challenging landslides, vast glaciers, hospitable locals, and snow-covered mountains, there is so much to see.
Wilderness Trekking provided professional service from beginning to end and an exceptional local guide Bal Krishna Rai, with great experience, who was well organized with good English, a sense of humor, and attention to detail. Great job……
It was an amazing experience trekking the EBC route with my friend (whose lifelong dream was to trek EBC), our wonderful guide Abinta, and our sweet porter Ram Bai. We connected well with our female guide and had many laughs together. It was such a pleasure to have a female guide. We also felt more comfortable sharing certain issues/details with her and asking for advice. We received great care from her- she organized our accommodations, meals, and itinerary, and even took good care of us when we became ill. Our porter, Ram, was a really nice guy who carried our gear without complaint and was easily embarrassed by all the jokes we told him.
Our goal of reaching EBC was reached with good weather and beautiful views of the Himalayas.
Nepal Wilderness Treks led us on the 12-day EBC trek. Himal handled all of the details very well and was very nice and responsive. From beginning to end, he made sure our trek was fantastic. All of our gear (sleeping bags, hiking poles, crampons, etc.) are in excellent condition. It was an absolute pleasure to have Dewan as our guide. Besides being so nice, he made sure we always got good rooms and good food. Also, our porter Tej was very nice and always made sure our bag got to our room before we did. Nepal Wilderness Treks is a fantastic locally owned company that will ensure your trek goes smoothly. We look forward to using them again for future treks in Nepal.
This was really an amazing journey. Not just a trek, but a pilgrimage (Helumbu valley). From the beginning, the communication with the office/Himal was great: quick response, courteous, honest, flexible, and good price. When we came to the office, it continued just like that: we were introduced to the guide, able to pay with a credit card, and received warm, clean sleeping bags. During the trek, Hari the (English-speaking: ) guide fulfilled all our wishes, adjusting the itinerary, so we got to visit the Milarepa cave and stayed longer at some special sites in Melanchi. Sunil the porter was smiling throughout, carrying our load. I might not have made it up the mountainside without him…and at times Hari had to pull me up, or help me down… Good rooms throughout, some with hot showers, good food, fresh fruit, and excellent hosts. Delicious farewell dinner at Hari\’s home in Kathmandu. I am very happy and grateful for everything, a dream come true. Can only recommend this company and team, thank you!
Yakub and Silas guided us on the Ghorepani / Poon Hill trek in October 2022, and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A trek of this length is an excellent choice for those who wish to immerse themselves in the Himalayas and have limited time. Despite the challenge, parts of the course were not unachievable or too long. The scenery and environment were simply breathtaking and I strongly recommend visiting the Himalayas at least once in your life!
The trip was made extra special and memorable by Yakub and Silas. As knowledgeable guides and attentive hosts, they were excellent from start to finish.
Throughout the trek, we were well taken care of, made to feel comfortable, and given an excellent understanding of Nepalese culture as well as the environment we were trekking in, and the history of the country. There were many other guides during our stay, and this only served to reinforce how fortunate we were to have Yakub and Silas as our guides. They went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Therefore, a thank you is well deserved.
A trek such as this is something very special and we could not have picked a better company, from the responsiveness of the booking process to the experience and attentiveness of the guides. By the end of the trek, we were simply hiking with our new, close friends. It would be impossible for us to recommend this trek or company more highly to anyone interested in exploring Nepal.
We trekked to the top of Poon Hill with Lal and two porters. It was an amazing experience! Over the course of two days, the trek ascends 2000 meters, with overnight rests at tea houses. Each tea house is equipped with beds, toilets, electricity, Wi-Fi, and a flexible menu. There are incredible views from the top of Poon Hill.
It was a great trek to the Everest View with Bhim!
The experience we had with our guide Bhim was excellent. From Kathmandu to Lukla, we took a flight Approximately six days are required for the first part of the Everest Base Camp Trek to Tengboche. The entire process, The presentation was excellent!
While preparing it, the communication with Himal at the office was always timely and clear. They suggested treks at a reasonable cost on fixed dates.
Once on the trek, we were well taken care of by our guides Bhabiraj and Robin, who worked with us as a team, assessing the difficulties and adapting to the weather conditions, offering us fruit and hot tea.
Despite the rain at the beginning of October, we enjoyed the beauty of the landscapes with waterfalls everywhere, even the fog that veiled the great mountain. We achieved our goal and were very happy with the experience.
Vishal and I recently enjoyed a stunning hike around Poon Hill for four days and three nights. He is an exceptional guide – professional, knowledgeable, supportive, and fluent in English. In addition to tailoring each of our days to suit our needs, he introduced us to many interesting people working in the villages that we traversed. All goods and accommodations were included in the price. Based on our own research, we found the package to be more cost-effective than arranging our own permit, guide, porter, accommodation, food, and transportation.
Prasad, our porter, was also excellent – strong, playful, and knowledgeable. If you are familiar with hiking, the hike was not difficult. It was a pleasure to see all the villages and small mountain towns, as well as the many animals. As the landscape changed each day, the trek remained interesting and we were consistently surrounded by the view of the mountains. One of the highlights of the trip was watching the sun rise each morning, particularly at Poon Hill, as well as the way the light hits the mountains at sunrise and sunset.
Mr. Hari is an excellent guide! I found him to be very friendly and had a great sense of hospitality throughout the three days. I am always taken care of by him, and he always explains about Nepali culture, nature, and so forth. I also enjoyed the scenery at Poonhill with the sunrise. There is no doubt that you will have an amazing experience. This is a tour that I would highly recommend to all of you.
I was part of a last-minute, 11th-hour trek, and yet everything was organized with such efficiency through this excellent company, for myself and two female friends.
We met our guide Vishal Gurung right on time in Pokhara, trekking early in the morning, and throughout the trek, he displayed an exemplary work ethic, sharing local knowledge of flora, fauna, and historical events affecting the area. Furthermore, it is apparent that he values connections with all communities along the way.
The porter, Prasad, was from the Birethanti valley, and was always friendly and accommodating. Due to other commitments, I had to leave the trek a day early (while the ladies continued via Ghandruk for a fourth day). He went above and beyond to ensure that I was safely returned to lower ground.
The best guides, the best prices, and the best experience!
I had an amazing experience with Bishal! A group of three of us went on the four-day Poon Hill Trek, which was a beautiful experience in the mountains and forests, passing through beautiful villages along the way.
It was a pleasure to be with Vishal and Prashant, who went above and beyond to explain things to us, laugh with us, and introduce us to the locals. Highly recommend this professional company and guides for a very reasonable price.
I am so glad I took the time to do this! The photographs do not do the landscape justice and I am extremely satisfied with the company and expertise of my guide.
I appreciated the ease of organizing the trip from Australia, the details of the trek were accurate, and the communication was excellent. Mingmar, my guide, was excellent, you can tell that he has had years of experience, and as a solo traveler, I always felt secure and comfortable with him. It was as if he had a sixth sense of knowing when I was too tired, needed a rest, or a change of pace without me having to say anything (haha I wasn’t as fit as I hoped!). In addition to being easy to talk to, he also had a way about him that made silence comfortable, in fact, he seemed to know when just concentrating on walking or looking around at some of the most beautiful scenery and changing landscapes was enough for him. It is not my intention to provide much information regarding the actual trek to Poon Hill, as you really just need to see it for yourself! As a matter of fact, I will not be adding any photos of sunsets since they do not do it justice. Every day is beautiful. In addition, Mingmar ensured that the homestays were in good condition and that we had a great place by the fire on cold nights. I chose the Jhinu Springs as an additional option, I would not say these were exceptional as construction is still being done in this area (so it may be better in a few years) and the pools were not very warm. As well as walking down quite a distance to reach them, you must also walk back up when you have finished. There are many other directions to choose from, I just would not choose this route again if I were doing the Poon Hill Trek again. I would like to thank you for a wonderful experience in Nepal, Mingmar.
There are so many positive things to say about our Langtang and Tamang Heritage trek. Our guides, Bhim and Lhakpa, were excellent teachers and companions. We learned a lot, walked at a lovely pace, stayed in great tea houses, laughed a lot, played lots of card games, and tasted interesting plants and berries. Bhim and Lhakpa were always in a good mood, always fun, and always ready to laugh. After the trek, we met up twice, once as guests at Bhim’s home and once for pizza with his family. We have remained in contact with Lhakpa as well.
Oh, and the trek is absolutely stunning. As we had taken time to acclimatize, we did not experience any altitude sickness problems, and although it was challenging at times, it was never extremely difficult. The majority of the pictures are stunning.
The Poon Hill trek is an amazing four-day adventure
My wife and I participated in the poon hill trek for four days with Vishal as our guide and Suk as our porter. It was a wonderful four days and I would highly recommend it. We stayed in great tea houses and had great views of the mountains every morning. Vishal spoke excellent English, was incredibly knowledgeable about the area and was able to put up with my million and one questions very well. It was a real pleasure to have a guide who was from the area as we learned a lot about the local culture, heritage, politics, and natural environment.
It is true that the first two days were relatively brief, and we felt that we could have challenged ourselves a bit more, however, in retrospect, it left us with enough energy for the last two days, which were longer and more challenging. There is no need to think the downhills are easy, as they are probably harder than the uphills, especially on the final day when the majority of the downhill is steep with deep steps.
I cannot imagine many other treks that provide such a diverse range of scenery and sub-mountain climates as this one does.
When preparing it, communication with Himal at the office was always prompt and clear; they offered treks at a reasonable price on fixed dates. On the trek, we were well looked after by our guide Bhabiraj and porter Robin, who acted as a team to assess the difficulties, adapt to weather conditions, and provide us with fruit and hot tea. At the beginning of October, despite the rain, we enjoyed the beauty of the landscapes with waterfalls everywhere, even the fog that covered the great mountain. It was a great experience and a wonderful trip. I greatly appreciate your assistance!
We had a wonderful experience with our guide Bhim. From Kathmandu, we flew to Lukla and then hiked For approximately six days, the first part of the Everest Base Camp Trek takes place until Tengboche. The entire process The presentation was excellent.
The Langtang region was an amazing place to trek. His knowledge of the landscape and local culture, as well as his familiarity with everyone along the route, made him an excellent guide! A special moment was when he and some friends in Langtang played some traditional Tibetan songs on a Tibetan guitar. In the mountains, we had a porter named Dawa who was very nice and an absolute speed demon – a very nice young man with a generous heart. I was very pleased with the organization of the trip. Himal communicated with us prior to our arrival in Nepal, and we met at the office the day before the trek to review the equipment and gear. Book a Langtang trek with Nepal Wilderness Trekking for trekking in the Langtang region – ask for Mingmar as your guide because he will make the experience even more authentic and unforgettable!!
Our guide and porter (Yakub and Manjung) guided us on a beautiful four-day trek from Nayapul to Ghandruk via Poon Hill. We highly recommended Nepal Wilderness Trekking and consider them very competitively priced. The walking was paced to our needs with plenty of stops for viewing animals, taking in views, etc, and the daily distances were managed well.
It was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. On top of the mountains, this Everest base camp trek passes through many small towns. Your journey will take you through beautiful scenery and you will eat and stay in many beautiful locations. Thanks to the amazing guide Lal Gurung, I highly recommend this trip. He was an excellent guide and a wonderful individual.
I am very impressed with Himal and the Nepal Wilderness Trekking. During December/January 2023, I completed the Indigenous Walking Tour with guide Milan.
After landing in Katmandu, I made a last-minute decision to begin the trek the next day. Himal was an excellent communicator and extremely supportive. He ensured that I had the appropriate equipment for the conditions, and is a calm and trustworthy individual. In terms of trekking, I would recommend his expertise and judgment.
If you are interested in off-the-beaten-track excursions, the Indigenous Peoples Trek is a wonderful experience. Having a reasonable level of fitness will make the trek more enjoyable. The walking is moderate. Milan was an enthusiastic and cheerful guide. His company was enjoyable. The homestays are very traditional and rustic, and each had its own unique charm. Every night, you should prepare Dal Bhat.
It was extremely cold at night, and the right equipment was imperative. This is a trip that I would recommend, especially during the warmer months. Dec/January trekking has the advantage of having the mountains to yourself.
The scenery on our trek was absolutely breathtaking. Our guides Hari and Krishna took care of all of our needs, from lodging accommodations with the best rooms to stopping for perfect pictures, as well as timing our rest periods so that we could travel at an optimal pace. There was an incredible amount of energy in them. Although we did not see all rhododendrons, Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Poon hill were breathtaking. It would be our pleasure to recommend this trek with Hari and Krishna as your guides. We were still sore each day, despite this being a “milder” trek.
There are no words to describe how amazing and fulfilling this trek is. The views are unreal and you will not regret your decision. The views along the way are magnificent, and they get better and better as you proceed. Hari & Krishna are extremely fun, helpful, and insightful guides. You must undertake this trek. I cannot express how important it is for you to do so. The sunset views from Poon Hill are breathtaking. Along the way, the guides assisted with some bags and allowed for breaks whenever necessary.
Base Camp, Cho La Pass, Renjo La Pass, Kongma Pass, Gokyo Ri, and Kala Patthar
It was under the provision of Mr. Himal Ghale’s Nepal Wilderness Trekking Agency that I participated in one of the most beautiful treks in Nepal, the17 days Everest Base Camp and three Passes.
As a result of being free from work, I returned to Nepal on October 5th. I felt a sense of misgiving as the plane landed at Tribhuvan since I saw rain out the window. The monsoons lasted longer than expected this year, and the rain followed Rajesh Gurung and me for the first few days. Because of the rain, we spent three days in Dingboche waiting for the rain to stop instead of the two days planned for acclimatization. The rest of the days, however, were sunny and crystal-clear, so we didn’t miss anything.
Visitors are often caught in the defilements caused by high altitudes. It happened to me more or less this time as well. As a result of Rajesh’s assistance on the way, I was able to reach the Everest Base Camp and all three passes with three peaks by October 23rd. As a result of Rajesh’s assistance on the way, I was able to reach the Everest Base Camp and all three passes with three peaks by October 23rd.
Kongma La Trek was a bit of an adventure since the sun had already set when we reached the edge of Solukhumbu Glacier, where the Lobuche direction marker was. Therefore, we had to continue crossing the glacier in the dark. Currently, it appears that we have lost our way. Unfortunately, when I had already resigned to the fact that we would spend the night there, listening to the rocky boulders falling into the water, Rajesh detected the way.
The assistance of his knowledge, patience, and thoughtfulness can match the requirements of critical trekking incidents.
The beauty of nature was worth dying for, so I didn’t regret any shortness of breath. The beauty of nature was worth dying for, so I didn’t regret any shortness of breath. My camera captured some unforgettable moments.
I was not familiar with trekking, so Manoj, my guide, helped me to have the best experience possible. It is a two-day hike up to Poon Hill, which is not easy. However, he carried my bag, respected my breath, and stopped at the amazing hotels and restaurants that he had chosen for me. Take care of all details, the beautiful view. There is no one better than him. In addition, the operator provided me with all of the assistance I required while traveling from Brazil to the trekking destination. They are very helpful and are focused on making you happy
The best decision you can make is to choose this company. The guides (DB and BK) are caring, joyful, energetic, and always willing to share their immense mountain knowledge with us. All efforts are made to ensure that the trek is the best adventure possible. From the fruit they give you after dinner to the interesting conversations we had with them, they made the trek an unforgettable one. We were surprised almost every day with cool things we did not expect. It was evident that they were also enjoying themselves, which is quite important when you are together 24/7 for seven days. It was an incredible experience to do a combination of Mardi Himal and Poon Hill. We went at the beginning of winter when the skies were clear and we were able to see so many mountains, but it was also a wild and intense experience to be in the forest. I was captivated by the variety of nature, views, villages, and forests. As a result of a knee injury, they went to great lengths to assist my boyfriend. Last but not least, they introduced us to DAHL BAT POWER.
Recently, I completed a 10-day trek to Annapurna base camp with guides DB and BK. The guides were excellent and very knowledgeable about the area. As a result, they were accommodating and even made changes to the itinerary based on the preferences of the group. Nepal Wilderness Trekking is highly recommended!
I would highly recommend guide Manoj and porter Dondlaz!!
Manoj is an extremely responsible, caring, and honest individual. My trekking buddy once became ill at 4800 meters. Initially, we were unsure whether we should continue or simply return to Namche Bazaar (a place with better accumulations and a lower altitude). We were treated meticulously by Manoj, and he provided us with a wide range of options for amendments. Ultimately, we took an extra half day to recover in the mountain and went to all the places we thought we would not be able to reach. On this Everest base camp trip, I saw so many scenic views that it is impossible to describe them all. My best friends are garlic soup and ginger tea. I was just blown away by it. The past fortnight has been challenging (more mentally than physically, I believe), but it has been well worth the effort.
Review of ABC and Poon Hill
Nepal Wilderness Trekking arranged for our group of five to trek to Annapurna base camp and Poon Hill. Firstly, Himal made the organization and payment for the trek extremely easy via email. Our trek began with our brilliant guides, DB Banset and BK. It was a pleasure to work with them and they made the experience very pleasant for us, and by the end of the trip, we had become very good friends. As a result, we plan to keep in touch and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is interested in trekking in Nepal.
Trekking to Everest base camp and Gokyo Lake with Nepal Wilderness trek
We were fortunate to have found Himal and booked our trek through him. Yakub was our guide, and he is one of the best. My friend and I are both young and inexperienced hikers, but we had a wonderful time. Yakub ensured that we enjoyed every moment of the trek, even on the days when the stairs made us want to cry. As a group, we were always flexible if we needed to change plans, and we were well taken care of throughout our trip. I would not have wanted to book through anyone else.
We had an amazing trip with this trekking company! In addition to being very reliable to book online, they were also very organized with our itinerary and with providing us with hiking equipment. I traveled with a friend to Everest Base Camp and Chola Pass to the Gokyo Lakes and had an unforgettable experience. Yakub, our guide, became like a member of our family during our trip. Despite a long day of hiking, he ensured that we were always laughing. We were allowed to set our own pace on the trail, so we were able to walk at our own pace depending on how we felt at altitude. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that we will never forget thanks to Yakub. It was a spectacular hike in and of itself! In spite of the fact that it was the end of the hiking season, the lodges were not fully occupied, but we still met a variety of interesting individuals. It was an unforgettable experience to view snow-capped mountains and colorful roofed villages. We highly recommend booking with Himal, as the trip was tailored to our hiking experience.
We were very happy to have found Himal, his guide Bimal, and porter Djit. There were two of us, 61 and 70 years of age. In addition to Tsum Valley, we also completed the Manaslu Circuit. We would not have been able to complete the Larkapass without Bimal. In addition to being helpful and attentive, he was always willing to listen to our needs and ideas. Because he spoke good English, it was easy to communicate with him. It was always a pleasure to have Djit around as a Porter. Nepal or Kathmandu may have hundreds of trekking agencies if you are looking for one. Therefore, finding Himal (Nepal Wilderness Trekking) was extremely helpful to us. Himal organized our trip within a short period of time and gave us the impression that we could rely on him. I would like to thank you all for a wonderful evening.
My trip to Nepal would not have been complete without this trek. I am 21 years old and I did this solo with my amazing guide Lal. The views were spectacular, and Lal made sure I was well taken care of and safe throughout the excursion. If you are looking for a quick, yet fulfilling getaway in the mountains, I highly recommend this experience. I cannot recommend Upper Dolpo Trek and the company highly enough. ❤️
I could not have imagined a better trek – Yakub is the best!
Himal responded quickly and comprehensively to our inquiries and questions, which enabled us to feel comfortable booking our Manaslu Circuit with him. In addition, he offered a fair price. Yakub, our guide, provided us with the best experience we could have imagined! Throughout the trek, he maintained a flexible itinerary. Although I was sick at the beginning, we were able to make it thanks to some rest time and smart decisions – but he had also clearly explained the alternatives as well. To ensure that we had a more quiet experience, both in the lodge and on the trail, he chose guest houses in villages that were different from the majority of trekkers. He organized everything so that we always had a bed, and, for example, had an immediate jeep pick-up at the end, while others waited for hours. His English is excellent, he taught us some Nepalese, and he shared many insights into Nepalese culture and life. Additionally, he was our engagement photographer and arranged a heartwarming surprise for us at our last guest house. Don’t look any further if you are seeking the best guide and a reliable agency!
Several of us had a very limited amount of time to explore the Himalayas after our work commitments in Kathmandu. On the Poon hill 3-day trip, Harry Gurung was our guide. He made the most of our time and even got us back in time for our flight. All of his predictions regarding timing and weather were accurate, and the clouds cleared just in time for some stunning views. Rather than giving one amount to the guide for all the porters, I would recommend giving them their tips separately at the end (rather than one amount to the guide for all of them).
The Annapurna Base Camp trek was an amazing experience
My 5-day trek to Annapurna Base Camp was a wonderful experience! As a result, I have learned a great deal about Nepali culture and mountain life from the guides (DB and BK). I highly recommend this service to anyone planning on trekking in Nepal.
I enjoyed my trek with my friend. I particularly enjoyed the Mardi Himal trek from the viewpoint to the base camp. Along the way, we also enjoyed delicious daal Dhat. Our guide, Bishal Gurung dai, and porter, Sangham dai, provided excellent company. In making arrangements for our trip, Bishal dai spoke excellent English and was very flexible. I would like to thank everyone who participated in this trip for taking us to the nicest tea houses where we met the nicest local people.
Third time in Nepal, third time with support from Nepal Wilderness Trekking. A new route to Kokhe Danda has been added to the ABC trek to accommodate the needs of the family. I would like to thank Himal and Rajesh for their assistance.
This compact was a great experience for us. In spite of the fact that we were a group of strangers, our guides (DB and BK) made us feel like a family. It was important to them that we all felt comfortable at our own pace. I highly recommend it.
The experience was incredible and the views were breathtaking
This hike is an excellent introduction to trekking in Nepal. My partner and I have caught the hiking bug for real and are already planning our next trip.
There is nothing else like the mountains and the jungle areas in the world in terms of beauty. This is a moderate hike, and our guide did an excellent job keeping the pace and making sure we took regular breaks for water and rest so that we enjoyed the entire journey without feeling fatigued. Our group was even fortunate enough to see Grey Langur monkeys and a snake during our visit. Neither words nor photographs can adequately convey the breathtaking views from the top of Poon Hill. The experience was truly spectacular and heavenly.
Our guide, DB Basnet, had 30 years of experience and shared with us a great deal of information about the natural environment and Nepal. Our porter looked after us very well, recommending the best food at each hotel to try. DB had a great sense of humor and was very polite and kind. In addition, he will assist us in planning our trip to the Everest base camp.
Having done some research before booking with this company, we found that they offer excellent service at a very reasonable price. We even took a detour there and back to see the views from Sangurat. This trip is highly recommended.
We found this trekking agency to be the perfect fit for us. Himal and his team are flexible and reliable at the same time. The entire trek, including arrival and departure, took 13 days. Due to some unexpected landslides and the high altitude before the Larke Pass (over 5000m), the trek was quite challenging. However, all of those challenges were well worth the effort. Our group felt so close to the highest mountains in the Himalayas, and the landscape is stunning and awe-inspiring. There are various lodges along the route, so you still have some level of comfort. There were some lodges that were more comfortable (heaters or solar showers) and some that were a bit more basic.
Besides the beautiful landscape, we were very fortunate to have Yakub as our guide. He organized the entire trip for us, including our bus and jeep rides, every lodge, and our rest day in Gowa with a very lovely family, and he even brought fruits to the mountains to serve as a dessert. Thanks to him, we were able to gain a greater understanding of Nepali culture and the mountains. Additionally, he gave us the right pace when we were tired due to altitude or steep terrain. As a result, we always felt secure despite difficult circumstances. Yakub possesses a warm and welcoming personality. Having him as a friend during this trek was an honor. Yakub, thank you so much for this wonderful experience. Please let us know the recipe for the amazing pickles in Gowa.
As a group of four friends, we completed the Manaslu Trek in October 2022. The plan was to begin the trek immediately after arriving in Kathmandu, but due to some problems with our flight, our luggage was delayed. As a result of Nepal Wilderness Trekking’s support, we were able to delay our trek by three days. Despite the fact that the trek itself was awesome, the landscape is very beautiful. Larke Pass itself is a very challenging climb, and it was extremely cold when we began our final ascent. Although our guide Yakub was very friendly and professional, he was always concerned about our well-being. It felt as though he had become a member of our group of friends after 10 days of intensive trekking and two rest days. As part of the package, Nepal Wilderness Trekking also organized the taxi ride from the airport to our hotel, the bus, and jeep ride to the starting point of the trek, and the return bus journey from Pokhara to the airport.
The highlight of our trip was a cooking class organized by our guide where we learned how to make Momo from a Nepali lady in the mountains. The experience was very pleasant to recommend booking our trekking trip with Nepal Wilderness Trekking.
We were four in number. I am with my boyfriend and my parents, who are over 70 years of age. DB Basnet was our excellent guide and Suman and Kshitiz were our excellent porters. Do not be fooled by the fact that the trek is one of the easier ones for the region. It is a challenging trek, but if you take it slow you will be fine. I am sure my parents would tell you that it was a very difficult time for them. Although DB was incredible, he was always available for encouragement, guidance, and assistance. My father never left my parents no matter what their pace was, and he had a wonderful attitude toward them. Overall, the service was excellent porters and guides served all meals and the wait staff bring you coffee in the morning and recommend the best dish for the night. During our first night in Ulleri, we had a hot shower, a place to charge things, and an outdoor space. In Ghorepani, we had a hot shower and a charging station. As a result of the cold weather, you spend most of your free time inside by the fire or walking around the village. On our last night in Tadapani, we had a rustic shower with a charging station. Overall, the accommodations were awesome. It was an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The stairs up to Ghorepani were amazing. It was a challenge for sure, but to imagine that someone made all of those stairs is unimaginable. Himal, the person I spoke with to make all of these arrangements, was also fantastic! He responded quickly
A wonderful experience was had by me while participating in the Pool Hill Trek with DB Basnet. From start to finish, everything was excellent, from Himal’s prompt response to excellent service, laughs, expertise, and good times with my guide DB. It was a good pace, allowing us not to get too tired, and we received excellent service at the teahouses, making us always feel comfortable and well taken care of. It was an amazing trek with stunning views, and when I return to Nepal I will definitely book Nepal Wilderness Trekking again.
We had a wonderful time hiking Poon hill with Vishal. He was incredibly accommodating, made sure we were comfortable at all times and adapted the itinerary to our pace as well. He also held my hand as we went down the slippery downhill! It was a pleasure to spend time with him. We had a great, smooth experience with this company. In addition, I found the price to be reasonable. I would like to extend a huge thank you to the hardworking porter as well.
Himal arranged everything perfectly for us. In addition to answering all questions very quickly, he was able to fulfill some special requests as well. Throughout our experience in Nepal, we always felt that we were working with a professional and trustworthy partner.
I would like to extend a special thank you to our guide Yakub. Thank you so much for eleven wonderful days on the Manaslu trek. We were always well taken care of by Yakub, a good-humored travel companion who was always concerned about our well-being. In addition to being our guide, he was a member of our group and always had a good sense of what we needed and how we were doing. Those evenings at the oven with Dal Bhat and Yakub’s Nepalese stories are long gone. My home is filled with wonderful memories! It’s Dhanyaabaat time!
I highly recommend it! We organized a 9-day trek to ABC with my 13-year-old daughter with their assistance. Himal was extremely responsive and arranged the best guide (Bharat) and porter (Bhuddi) in all of Nepal. Everything was extremely well organized. The guide and porter (both cousins) are extremely experienced (have done the trek more than 50 times). They took excellent care of us, making sure we were safe, arranging tea house accommodations in advance (we went during the high season), and making sure we were warm, fed, and dry. I found the service to be very professional and reasonably priced. They are good people. It is highly recommended!
With Bharat, I completed a five-day guided tour of Annapurna Base Camp. The trail was beautiful and challenging for me. When we arrived at M.B.C., it was very cold, but the views were excellent, and Bharat was an excellent guide whom I would recommend to others.
Excellent experience with this company and everyone involved.
We were extremely pleased with our entire experience. We could not have asked for a better experience. Throughout the trip, Himal was incredibly helpful and treated us to delicious tea whenever we visited his office. It was an epic journey with our guide Bal Krishna. There are not enough words to express our gratitude to him. In addition to being an excellent guide, he often entertained us en route with songs and his contagious laugh, but he also doubled as a chef, singer, entertainer, and all-around wonderful individual. It made the trip an unforgettable experience. Shambu, our porter, was also excellent. He provided us with a great deal of information and insight about the surrounding area. All of this without even mentioning the trek itself. We hiked to the base camp of Kanchenjunga. There is no doubt that Nepal is a hidden gem. It offers stunning scenery and is far less crowded than the more crowded areas.
Nepal wilderness organized an ABC trek for me on October 22-23. Himal made sure that everything was taken care of perfectly. He was very responsive and gave me good suggestions on tailoring my itinerary. Sujan was my guide, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide. He has a great sense of humor and will go out of his way to ensure everything is right for you. Seeing him go above and beyond, fellow trekkers asked for his number. During the trek, he knows the routes, and guesthouses, so you won’t have any issues. In the tea house, he was such a joy that everyone enjoyed his company. Next year, I will return with Himal JI and Sujan for my EBC trek. Please tip your guide generously if you enjoyed their service. It is truly a memorable experience for you because they go above and beyond.
I cannot say enough good things about this group of individuals. In spite of our indecision, Himal was very accommodating and offered us a variety of treks and tours to choose from. We ended up joining DB Sherpa and his porter Ulm on a trek from Ghorepani to Poon Hill. Over the next four days, we embarked on an adventure that I will never forget. I was also greeted with a red carpet treatment. My experience was one of being treated as a VIP – practically being waited on hand and foot. Not only does DB possess an exceptional command of the English language, but he is also a humanitarian who has helped his local villagers establish a school in order to help better their lives. If you are even considering booking a trip with these guys, do yourself a favor and do so immediately. It will not disappoint you!
The Pikey Peak trek was booked with Himal via email before I arrived in Nepal, and he was very helpful and detailed in his responses. Everything was arranged before my friend and I arrived, which was a great relief. We could not have asked for a, and we could not have asked for a bettere native that catered to all our needs even when it wasn’t required. I would like to thank him for exceeding our expectations and making the experience something to remember for my friend and me.
Having completed the Ghorepani/Poon Hill trek in October 2022, we found the organization to be excellent from start to finish. Our contact with Himal was based on an online recommendation, the rates were the best we could find, and the itinerary was the most detailed. Himal provided us with a few options for our trek itinerary (we chose Option C, which included a trip to the Jhinu hot springs on a penultimate day), which enabled us to personalize our experience. In addition to guiding us through the trek and taking care of us at every juncture, Yakub and Silas provided excellent English and were extremely helpful in explaining the region and country to us over the five-day trek, which greatly enhanced our experience. In addition to being very attentive to our needs during the trek (we did not want for anything), they have also become close friends of ours. All the while being friendly and social, they provided a very accurate account of Nepalese culture. The all-inclusive price and established guides made the trek as comfortable as possible, and we were highly satisfied with the experience – I would definitely recommend it to others.
My Solo Trekking trip to Poon Hill has just concluded. Unfortunately, two of the three days I spent there were devoted to heavy rain and thunderstorms, so I was not able to capture the view most people would like to see from Poon Hill Trek. Does this mean that I was disappointed with the trip? That is not the case at all! We enjoyed hiking through the lush jungle forest, observing how the rivers and waterfalls became increasingly powerful. It was also a bit frightening but my guide Ashok Ghale took excellent care of me… as well as of other people who were struggling with the flooded pathways… I was greatly pleased to observe his kindness. Among his kindnesses was his willingness to sacrifice his Dashain festival with his family in order to guide me and ensure I experienced the rituals of the most important festival day with the Lodge owners’ family. The experience was unforgettable. You should take advantage of a chance to do this or longer trips if you have the opportunity – there is a lot more to experience in Nepal than just the view.
The Poonhill Trek was recently completed (2/08/22). We signed up for this spontaneously and had no idea what to expect. Having Hari Gurung as our guide was a blessing! Combined with two beautiful and high-energy boys who carried our luggage, he was the best of the best. Aside from the breathtaking scenery and great company, we could not have asked for a better experience in Nepal! Hari’s dancing and singing, as well as his ability to adapt to our fitness levels, made this trek one remember. I look forward to booking another trip with Hari and the team in the near future.
My wife and I trekked the Mardi Himal route with Lal Gurung as our guide and Narayan as our porter. It was our second trip with Lal Gurung and Nepal Wilderness Trekking. As a couple in our 50s, this was our first time taking a porter with us. It was a great decision to have Narayan assist us with our bags, as the trek was mostly uphill and quite steep. During the trek and at the tea houses along the way, Lal was excellent as to be expected. It is certain that we will return to Nepal and trek with Lal Gurung in the future. Thank you for a wonderful trip, Lal and Nepal Wilderness Trekking are highly recommended.
It was a wonderful trip with our guide Yakub and porter Simon. They picked us up from the hotel and guided us through a five-day trek out of Pokhara. No detail was overlooked, and they went the extra mile to make the trip memorable, adventurous, and so much fun! It was a wonderful time filled with laughter and happiness. They even managed to arrange a birthday cake in a tiny village along the way, forming lifelong friendships with us. There are no words to describe how highly I recommend this team. It has been an absolute pleasure working with them, as they are highly professional, detail-oriented, patient, and very humorous. The team was highly recommended to us, and we will certainly return for another trip! I cannot say enough good things about them! Ask for them if you need them!
Hari Gurung is the best tour guide I have ever had on this trek! I would like to thank him for making my trip perfect. In my opinion, this company was the best – very organized from the very first email to the very last. Poon Hill was an ideal destination for me since I only had a few days to trek. Please ask for Hari when you contact this company. It is impossible for me to express how pleased I am with everything.
A fantastic trip with a wonderful guide, DB Basnet
It was a fantastic four-day trip with Guide DB on the Poon Hill loop. We are a family of four with two daughters (12 and 8). We were well taken care of by DB and his two sons throughout the entire trip. We did not have to worry about anything since DB was such an experienced guide. I could not have asked for a better guide than him.
The accommodations were all excellent, with great views of the mountains (and free Wi-Fi). If you are a hiker, you should be aware of what to expect in these accommodations on such a mountain, so do not make comparisons with hotels.
Snow mountains and rainforests are absolutely beautiful, and the trip is well worth the effort. As this was the girls’ first trekking trip, they gained a great deal of experience. It would be nice to return someday for another trip.
It was a great experience to go on the 4-day poon hill trek! It was a pleasant experience. We were very pleased with the performance of our Porter and Guide Ashok. He was caring, kind, responsible, and friendly, and we felt very safe with him. He was a perfect guide for us! It would be a pleasure to do it again 🙂
I just got back from the three-day Poon Hill trek with Nepal Wilderness Trekking that we did with them. It was a fantastic experience for us. DB, our guide, and Ohm, our porter, both did an excellent job for us. It was a pleasure to work with DB who was very friendly, knowledgeable, and always went the extra mile to make sure we had as much fun as we could. In addition, he was able to adjust our itinerary accordingly so that we would have the best chance of getting a good view from the top of Poon Hill, which we were very grateful for.In my opinion, Nepal Wilderness Trekking would be a great choice for anyone considering booking a hike in Nepal. As far as I can tell from looking around online, their rates are also very reasonable!
I had a few days available following a work trip, and Himal suggested that we trek Poon Hillfor three nights and four days. It was a pleasure to work with Himal, and he was very responsive to any questions that he had. Despite the wet weather, he had an amazing time. There was an amazing sight when I was on Poon Hill, when the clouds cleared up, providing me with a spectacular view of the area. My guide, Lal Gurung, was a great walking companion. He was knowledgeable and helpful, and he tailored the walking pace and daily itinerary according to my individual needs.
Together with my wife, I spent 12 days on the Makalu Base Camp trek in April 2022 with our guide Lal and porter Sumbo. As far as I know, Lal Gurung has been a friend of mine since 2015, when we were together for the first time on the Lower Dolpo trek and then on the other treks he led. I strongly recommend him to anyone who wants to spend a nice and comfortable trek time with him. He is a very nice friend, speaks English well, and is always ready to help you out in any situation you may find yourself in. My thanks also go to Nepal Wilderness Trekking, namely to the company’s leader Himal ghale for arranging this trip for me. There was a lot of organization involved in this trek, and he was very helpful in changing our flight ticket from Tumlingatar.
This was a great experience at Poon Hill Trek and I had a great time in general. The best hospitality and service of Himal and Guide DD Basnet with Rajesh Gurung as well as the responsiveness and helpfulness of Himal were outstanding. There is no doubt in my mind that I will be returning in the future.
We did the Poon Hill trek in June 2022, and though the weather prevented us from seeing much of the mountains, the experience was still great! The scenery is beautiful, the teahouses are comfortable, and the food is delicious. As the trek is considered a beginner’s trek, you should be prepared to climb and descend a lot of stairs! Book Yakub as your guide when booking:) it will make the whole journey much more interesting and fun, I would definitely use Wilderness Trekking again if I were going back to Nepal.
Our group consisted of 11 people and we had the best time trekking to EBC and Gokyo Lake with the Chola Pass. DB, Madan, and Momo, our guide and assistant guides, were all extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating to our needs. We had a great time. There were also a number of porters who were super helpful and polite, including Vishnu, Shiva, Mahindra, and Ravindra. The EBC trek and the Chola Pass trek were both really beautiful and enjoyable treks. Thank you very much to the whole team for making the experience such a memorable one! Would definitely use them again in the future.
A trip to EBC is a dream come true for many of my friends and me, although it isn’t as easy as it seems! A group of eleven people and I are going to EBC in May for two weeks. We are so pleased that we chose Nepal Wilderness Trekking to take us on this trip of a lifetime. As the result of a comprehensive desktop search and by asking my friends who have been to EBC Gokyo lake, some of us decided to use the services provided by Nepal Wilderness Trekking because they provide local guides and 100% of the costs go to the local community.
In addition, Himal, the owner and founder of the operator, has been working for EBC Trek since 1990 and has been running the company for the past 20 years. Himal is really good at responding quickly to WhatsApp messages. In addition to arranging everything, he lends crampons, sleeping bags, and chlorine. Our guide is DB, and he has been taking groups to the EBC for more than two decades. He is also very attentive to our health, and he reminds us to drink plenty of water on a regular basis. Aside from DB, there is one assistant guide, Madan, the pacemaker, who is super helpful in accommodating all of our requests, such as washing our clothes and cleaning the toilet.
Thanks also to Om (our little brother), Bishnu, Shiva, Mahindra, and Ravindra (our porters), who are always willing to help when we’re sick or tired. Minor feedback for Himal is to revisit the itinerary, especially after the EBC. As a result of the EBC, the trek was way more intense, while our energy levels were significantly reduced. As first-timer, we were not aware of how intense the experience could be. I would appreciate it if you could bring this to the attention of the client next time. However, we regret nothing and had an absolute blast.
All in all, it was a great experience to perform DB Basnet-Madan-Om-Bhisnu-Shiva-Mahindra-Ravindra. They always go above and beyond the call of duty. On our last night, they even gave us a tart cake as a farewell. Without their help, I personally would not have been able to complete the trek. In the future, I will definitely use their service again if I ever want to trek Annapurna.
This was our first trip with Nepal Wilderness Trekking, and we had a great time on this three-day Poon Hill trek! From the initial inquiry via email to the meetings with Mr Himal in Kathmandu, and the professional guidance provided by DB Basnet, we were met with good-natured hospitality and expertise. The team at Nepal Wilderness Trekking is also extremely helpful in coordinating arrangements surrounding the trek, in our case coordinating with the airlines to ensure timely arrival and departure from Pokhara, as well as helping us coordinate with hotel operators for the days following the trek.
The trek itself was a wonderful experience. It is possible to expect to see a variety of different environments and each one is enriching in its own way. As you trek through the countryside, jungle, and the Nepalese hills along the way, you will have amazing views of the Annapurna Mountain Range along the way. On the trek up to Poon Hill, our Guide DB had many friends and nearby prime locations for us to rest and recuperate and we always found comfort and hospitality wherever we stopped. Also, DB added a lot of value to the trek in terms of good conversation, where we learned a lot about the area, Nepal’s history and culture, and a general sense of humour that made every chat easier and fun.
As a result of this short trek, we are already thinking about plans for our next one and will definitely be contacting Nepal Wildnerness Trekking and DB Basnet when we are ready to embark on our next adventure!
This was a truly incredible experience! I and my husband went on a 3-day trek with Poon Hill. Ridhi, our guide, was a really wonderful person, and Salman, our porter, was very helpful throughout the whole trip. As Ridhi Ghale has been trekking for almost 30 years, he was very well acquainted with all the places we visited. All of the tea houses they booked for us were comfortable, and every room we stayed in had its own bathroom attached to it, which was a huge plus. As you climb higher and higher, the views just get better and better. The two of us cannot wait to go back to Nepal and explore another trekking route. In addition, I would like to thank Himal for making the whole booking process as smooth as possible via WhatsApp. It is definitely a company that I would recommend to anyone who is uncertain about which company to use. It is definitely a company that I would recommend. Thanks a lot once again for this incredible experience and I look forward to doing another trek with you in the future.
I had such an incredible time trekking to the EBC Gokyo lake trek with Chola Pass. There was a great deal of taste in the food, the accommodations were clean and neat, and the people were wonderful. DB was our main guide, who was supportive and wonderful. Madan and Monoj were both extremely helpful and fun. I could not have made it without the porters either, Mahindra, Ravindra, Shiva, Bishnu, and Arjun. It has been a great trip and if it was possible, I would love to go back and do another trek with you all. Thank you so much for being part of it.
Amazing Family Everest Base Camp Trekking Experience!
I cannot believe what an amazing company this is! For our family trek to Everest Base Camp, we selected Nepal Wilderness Trekking because we thought it would be the best for us, and we weren’t wrong. Himal was completely dedicated to making our trip a memorable one from start to finish. In addition to his exceptional attention to detail, he also spent considerable time communicating with us in order to ensure we were fully prepared and ready for the trek. In particular, since we were trekking as a family with our 12-year-old twin boys, this was extremely important to us. We met our guide Mingmar Tamang as soon as we arrived in Lukla. The moment he greeted us with the warmest and happiest smile, I was confident we would be in safe hands. We had so much fun and he was like one of the family during those two weeks. Aside from bonding with our boys, he helped us navigate through a change in plans and provided advice when we fell ill. In the end, we reached EBC on day 10 and we can’t thank Mingmar enough. It has been a pleasure working with him. Thank you so much for everything you have done for us. Thank you so much for everything you have done for us.
It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and I am so grateful to Nepal Wilderness Trekking for coordinating everything so I could enjoy the Himalayas!
In May of 2022, I was a solo female traveller who visited Nepal. Earlier this year, I did the EVEREST BASE CAMP TREK with CHO LA PASS and GOKYO LAKE. I really enjoyed the trip, and while it is a hard trek, I found it manageable. During my trip, I experienced some of the most spectacular views I have ever seen, which were enough to distract me from my fatigue.
Himal helped set up all the logistics and his prompt response, thoroughness, and informed manner gave me great confidence for the adventure I was about to undertake when I arrived at Kathmandu.
For solo travellers, nature lovers, or anyone who wants to learn more about the majestic mountains of Nepal, I recommend DEWAN RAI highly. With years of experience and a genuine, obvious love for the natural world, Dewan not only walked me through the trail, permits, logistics, and tea houses (which took a huge weight off of my shoulders), but brought the place to life by introducing me to Nepalese culture (hand made momo! ), patiently explaining which peaks were which, and leading several ad hoc species scouting expeditions. As a person, he was very kind, patient, and delightful to be around.
I will never forget this incredible adventure. Adding a trip over Cho La Pass to Gokyo Ri to your base camp journey is highly recommended…this part of the journey offered some of the most gorgeous views of the trip. There is nothing like tough trekking at high altitude, but the right guide (like Dewan!) can help you find the right pace and cadence to make it work for you.
May is a bit late in the season for this trek, since we are approaching monsoon season, and the weather can get cloudy, as I experienced. As I also had some of the clearest bluebird days when the views were the most important, it is impossible to tell for sure. In this regard, I would have preferred to have done it a bit earlier in April if I could done it again. Unfortunately, my schedule only allowed me to do it in May. The upside is that it was a lot less crowded than in April.
We went on a three-day trek with Bishal Gurung. He was friendly from the beginning and very knowledgeable about the area and the route. The fact that he loves what he does can be seen by the fact that he went out of his way to make sure we had an authentic experience. He cares about the local community and loves the outdoors. On our three-day trip, we were able to gain a lot of insight into Nepal as a country, and we saw so much more than just a trek!
As first-time trekkers, it was not too bad! Despite the fact that we were tired at the end of the day, everything was pacing out well and was not too hard. We even saw some children along the way. Tea houses are simple and cozy, you really feel like you are on an adventure when you step inside! I would also like to give a shout-out to our helper who carried our luggage for us. I can’t thank her enough.
The best of the best are Himal and Riddhi! If you are looking for an agency that can help you plan your Nepal hiking trips, I highly recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking. We did the 3 Passes Trek, and I have to say, that this is by far the hardest trek that I have ever done, however, it is also the most rewarding.
We are really lucky to have Riddhi as our guide, and the two porters taking care of us the whole time we are in the mountains. There is no doubt that Riddhi is considerate, caring, and has a wealth of knowledge about the area in which he lives. As a result, I really appreciate that he constantly makes sure we have a good time by adjusting our pace and itinerary to ensure we are having a good time.
The purpose of this comment is to thank Himal, Riddhi, and the two porters for their hard work in making this 17-day three passes trek so special to me and memorable for me.
Himal truly wants to make sure his customers have a positive experience, as they have expressed in many other reviews. Initially, we were planning a trip for 2020, but it was canceled due to covid. He refunded our deposit and made adjustments to allow our 12-month-old daughter to join us once we were finally he the airport on election day when vehicles required a special permit (i.e. no taxis!)
I offer the following advice to travelers who are considering the 3 Day Poon Hill trek, which was the core part of our trip:
There is a level of fitness required for the trek, which may be contrary to some of the other reviews. admittedly I walked it with a child on my back and following two years of minimal exercise due to covid, but it was certainly harder than other “beginners treks”. The three of us walked a total of 25 kilometers over the three days – half of which was uphill, including a stretch of more than 3000 stars.
If you are planning to take kids, either ensure that you can carry them all the way (we used a Deuter Pro backpack, which was excellent) or that they can walk on their own the entire way. During our visit, we did not see anyone younger than the age of 14 or 15 years old.
It is a basic hotel with basic accommodation. We stayed in a Ghorepani room that had its own bathroom and was the equivalent of a 1.5-star hotel, however, the first night would not have been rated. It is part of the experience, but don’t have unrealistic expectations about where you will be staying when you go.
Please bring your own water bottles, water purification tablets, hydrate, lollies/sugar, etc. with you, as well as sufficient cash for any other drinks/snacks you may want to purchase. As a general rule, the higher you go, the more expensive it is.
-Pack properly, including a good pair of hiking boots. There were 2.5 days of sunny weather and half a day of rain. While hiking, it was hot, but freezing at night. We could have left some items behind, but we were ultimately glad we brought everything with us.
I enjoyed this trek a lot. There were three of us in the group, ages 14, 11, and 6. There is no doubt that despite the varying abilities of participants, the Kanchenjunga trek was designed to make everyone feel comfortable and successful. Needless to say, the scenery was breathtaking. It was the warmth and friendliness of the staff that made the trip so enjoyable for us. We had a wonderful experience with our guide and porters. They were attentive to us consistently and it seemed they enjoyed what they were doing! Himal is an owner/manager who is kind, responsive, professional, and well organized. The guide, DB, and the porters were as accommodating and sweet as I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. As well, if I were able I would take off a quarter-star because I am from the States, and paying for the trip was a challenge (no credit card numbers were accepted online or by telephone) and the last part was a two-hour walk (and it wasn’t the company’s fault). In general, we felt as if we were in Heaven on Earth thanks to the beautiful people in such a beautiful country. Thank you very much, Nepal Wilderness Trekking. We are looking forward to returning soon!
We enjoyed the Chitwan package very much. Despite the fact that the logistics were seamless, the activities were excellent, and the guide was very kind, helpful, and very knowledgeable about the area. Taking an elephant ride was one of our favorite activities because we saw several rhinos, including two sets of mom and baby rhinos, as well as deer and a crocodile. During the dugout canoe ride, we saw many birds, some crocodiles, and even a gharial along the way! There was a good explanation of the Tharu village and the riverside walk. In addition, the Tharu cultural dance program was performed with skill and aplomb. The hotel was clean, peaceful, and had a refreshing pool and riverside view where rhinoceroses and buffaloes could be seen swimming in the water. The food was delicious and there was a wide selection to choose from. The schedule was full enough to get our money’s worth but also relaxed enough to enjoy the pool and view of the river between activities.
Nepal Wilderness Trekking is a company that is completely trustworthy and seriously committed to its clients. For me, it was a DREAM COME TRUE!! I hiked in the KHUMBU Valley for 16 days to Gokyo, Renjo, and Kongma La, it was an awesome experience, I wanted to go alone to the Everest Region and this trip was incredible, I was with a fantastic guide GUNESH, who took care of everything for me, including logistics, food, and helped make this an incredible experience.
I would highly recommend doing the three-day Poon Hill trek! Lal, our guide, was fantastic and ensured that we had an amazing time while we were there. He was very knowledgeable about the area and enjoyed talking to us and answering our questions. I thought he did a great job of accommodating everyone’s comfort and fitness levels and making sure that everyone enjoyed themselves. The porters were also amazing; it is impossible to speak highly enough of the team at Nepal Wilderness Trekking.
It is a hike full of spectacular views the entire way, and one cannot emphasize enough the beauty of the summit of Poon Hill. While the accommodations along the way are comfortable, the food is delicious, and the people are very friendly. We went in May; if you go in a warm month, you should expect to sweat lots and to be very very hot.
The response from Himal was prompt, and he was able to personalize my itinerary accordingly. This is a good trek for people who have never trekked before. I would recommend this trek as a good starter trek for people who have never trekked before. Getting in touch with Himal was a very simple process from the very beginning. Our original booking had been made for April 2020, but Himal kept our spot to use in 2022 as well. We had great communication with Himal via email and he was a very nice guy when we met him in Katmandu.
We walked the 3 days of the Poon Hill trek with RB and our porter. They were both amazing! It is hard to overstate how highly we recommend them. Not only was RB highly knowledgeable, but he was also very nice and genuine in his approach. Both of them were attentive to our needs and treated us very well. As a result, we felt completely at ease with them throughout the trek. We loved the 3-day trek, went through a lot of beautiful scenery, ate delicious food in tea houses, and stayed in comfortable lodges throughout the trek. We would recommend the company, our guide, and porter, as well as the trek for anyone looking to do the 3-day trek.
During my trip to the Himalayas, Rajesh Gurung was one of the best guides I could have hoped for. He was attentive to every need of mine, and it was a great joy to walk with him together. During the trek, I was able to move at my own pace, and I never felt rushed. In the later part of the trek, I was suffering from knee pain, so Rajesh promptly adjusted our trekking plan to avoid big steps in favor of gentler slopes. Even with the blisters and sores I suffered during the trek, it was the little things that he did that made this one of the best experiences I have ever had. During my research prior to the trek, I found that this company has good rates in comparison to other companies, especially for this trek.
Booking the EBC trek with Himal at KTM was a simple and straightforward process. As promised, I met the guide provided by Himal – Mr. Makaraj – at Lukla, as he had agreed. Maharaj is a local and knows “everyone” along the trail and is capable of handling all hostel & restaurant bookings without any issues during the trek, he also saved the day when I forgot my kindle at one of our stops (he arranged to have it brought up the next day by a friend of his).
The fact that he took care of everything from beginning to end of the trek, made me feel at ease, as I knew he would take care of things in case of problems (I didn’t get altitude sickness and the weather was not bad, but both are always a risk), so I was able to enjoy the trek without worries.
I went on a five-day hike to the Mardi Himal which was a fantastic experience. Especially Himal at the Wilderness Trekking office was very helpful and even helped me connect with another solo female traveler in case I wanted to hike together with her. Despite the fact that we decided to do different treks in the end, I really appreciated this.
Vishal Gurung was my guide for this trip. Our guide was very knowledgeable of the route, spoke excellent English, making communication with him very easy, and chose very good tea houses for us to stay in. It was extremely helpful for me to have his knowledge of route timing, as we had a lot of afternoon premonsoon storms during the week I walked, so I was always keen to arrive at our accommodation before the rain started — which we always achieved.
Vishal was a calm, courteous presence, and I liked learning about the importance of the Macchupucchre mountain to him and his family. Would definitely recommend Nepal Wilderness, and Vishal as a guide.
Nepal Wilderness Trekking is a trek I highly recommend. Himal, the owner of the property, was always responsive both leading up to and during the trip. Furthermore, after my hospitalization, Himal took very good care of me and made sure that I still had a memorable experience while I was in Nepal.
As soon as we arrived in Kathmandu, we met up with him for a pre-day check-in and he made himself available for any further questions our group may have. Furthermore, he gave us the option of storing our luggage at his office if we did not want to store our luggage at the hotel. As well as offering some trekking tips, he also gave us the option of either using the duffel bags from his trekking company or the ones we brought with us. The porters would be responsible for carrying the duffel bags.
I am very grateful to have had a trekking guide and a porter to accompany me on the trip. Our trekking guide took care of all the logistics related to permits, and teahouses, and guided us on the right path all by himself. All of the items that I was not going to use while trekking for that particular day was carried by the porter. The result of this was that I was able to trek with a light daypack (maximum recommended weight of 7kg) while the porter carried the remaining 10kg to 15kg of my luggage. The trekking guide we had was Riddhi and my porter was Sid. Both were caring, thoughtful, and wonderful people.
I had the unfortunate experience of getting Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) on day 3 of my 17-day trek and had to be med-evacuated to the hospital. Since I was unable to be at high altitudes as a result of my medical condition, the Himalayas were no longer an option for me. Instead, Himal and I worked together to design a low-altitude itinerary that would align with all of the parameters of my health requirements. In addition to a personal trekking guide/porter, I visited the cultural and culinary history of Kathmandu, spelunked, and went sightseeing around Pokhara, including a 2-day trek to Poon Hill. I also visited the Buddhist monasteries of Lumbini (birthplace of Buddha) and took a mountain flight through the Himalayas.
Despite the fact that I was unable to complete my 17-day trek through the three passes which included Everest Basecamp, Himal helped me salvage my trip and put me on a custom trip that he and I planned together. Himal was thoughtful, responsive, and did his best to ensure my experience in Nepal was good. He even visited me the first two days I was in the hospital. It was a great pleasure to book my trip through Nepal Wilderness Trekking. I doubt that any other trekking company would have worked as hard as Himal did to help me create such a wonderful 3-week experience in Nepal despite my inability to hike the Himalayas.
I have done the 3 Pass Trek with this company and I have to say it was very challenging, but rewarding and worth it nonetheless. It was one of the hardest ones yet compared to the ones that people usually do (16 days, several nights above 15,000 ft and counterclockwise direction), so it can really push you to the very edge of your abilities. I recommend this trek only to those who are in pretty good hiking shape as even in the best shape, you will still be able to kick your butt out of this trek.
It was a great pleasure to have a guide and porter with us. As a group, we were led by Riddhi who was a great guide – he was warm, welcoming, and took great care of us (there was a lot of adjustment needed to get used to the altitude, cold, and physical requirements required for this trek). We were together for a long time doing this hike and it was wonderful to have someone who knew what they were doing and could take care of the lodging and details for us. In addition, it was really nice to see that the guides also got excited about the mountains as well. He was just as excited as we were to see the views from the passes and Mt Everest from up there.
We also had our porters carry our extra luggage, and they did a great job. In hindsight, it is hard to imagine having to carry everything you would need for this trip all by yourself. Our guide manager, Himal, prior to our trip was very communicative and responsive. We asked him all the questions we had, and he was very helpful when one of our friends needed help during the trip. I would highly recommend him as someone to know when going on a trip like this. As a whole, I found the value and price for this tour to be very good, and I would recommend this company to others.
On our hike to the Mardi Himal, we had a great time. As our guide, Bishal was fantastic. In fact, he is the best guide that I have ever had in Nepal. He is a passionate and engaging individual, and if you want to, you can learn a great deal about Nepalese culture, politics, wildlife, language, and traditions. The conversations I had with Bishal as a Ph.D. student studying here were fascinating beyond the beauty of the hike. Porter Anil was friendly and kind. Like most porters, he made it look easy to us! In-between the two of them, we had an exceptional experience of Nepali hospitality, kindness, and humor. The Himalayas are tough to climb and the accommodation along the way is quite basic, but if you have an open mind, you will soon fall in love with Nepal and the Himalayas and come back again and again.
There is a sharing jeep from siding on the last day of Mardi Himal, which means you have to wait for other people who take the journey and fill up the Jeep. The reason we arrived at the time we did (i.e not in the morning) meant there was no one to join and we would have had to pay the difference of about 20 dollars for the journey. This was something that should have been explained better in the itinerary. However, this issue was resolved by Himal, who covered the difference. He was easy to contact and very accommodating. He also advised me on how and when to take the Diamox as I usually experience altitude sickness and this time I did not.
It is possible to do these routes without a guide, but the Himalayas are unpredictable, and you never know when something unexpected might happen, so having local guides is a must! Great value for money and we can’t wait to hike with Bishal again!
I recently had the privilege of visiting Nepal for the second time in my life. My first visit was to the Everest region of Nepal. Hence, in April of this year, I set out on a journey to explore the Annapurna circuit. As a matter of fact, since the last time I visited Nepal and completed the Everest region trek, this has been on my bucket list.
DB was my guide on this trek and he was amazing and very very knowledgeable. Thorong la Pass has already been completed by DB several times in his life, making him very familiar with all that the Annapurna region has to offer, and he also knew how to communicate effectively with the teahouse management staff. Having no worries about lodging or transportation made the whole trip so much more comfortable! I enjoyed his company and the warmth of his personality inspired me. I would highly recommend Mr. Himal’s assistance, and the advisory help he provided from the Nepal Wilderness Company was incredible. His hidden strength, cautiousness, diligence, and care made me feel extremely safe, especially being a woman in a foreign country. I would highly recommend those services. We highly recommend them, and we hope to return for another trip in the future 🙂
We were hiking the Annapurna circuit with my friend and I got very sick while we were doing the hike in Annapurna Circuit trek. My Guide DB stayed with me during the whole hike. He took such great care of me and I really appreciated his assistance so much. In fact, he paid for all my transport and housekeeping expenses until we got to Pokhara, and I was able to wire some money to him. He went above and beyond for me. Thanks a lot. I’ll go back and finish what I started, but this time I’ll do it slower.
What a wonderful experience! All aspects of the preparation, service, and execution were excellent. Himal was extremely responsive as we worked together to put together an itinerary for the Annapurna Circuitthat met our requirements. It was the first trek that my new wife and I did together, where we were assigned a guide (Yakub) and a porter (Ashok). In addition to doing their jobs exceptionally well, both of them were extremely fun to be around for a week and helped to make it a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us. It’s hard to express how grateful we are to both of them for being such great humans and leaders on our trek. During the trek, Yakub took care of any questions we had or requests we made, so we essentially didn’t have to worry about anything.
I have only one piece of feedback or advice for prospective travelers and that is to offer/request the option to fly back from Pokhara to Kathmandu as opposed to taking the bus. This would save a lot of time.As a result, I would highly recommend Himal and his company to anyone who is interested in doing a trek in Nepal, whether it is a private trip or part of a group trip. Thanks again Himal!
During our trek to the Everest area, we did an amazing and epic 17-day trek covering three passes. Our guide Riddhi did an outstanding job of setting up a challenging yet spectacular itinerary through some of the tallest mountains in the world with our owner Himal, who was extremely communicative and helpful throughout the trip. On this trek, we had a guide and porters – this made things a lot less stressful, and the passes were all quite challenging (the few people we saw out there carrying all their stuff were suffering).
Also, they were there for us when things went wrong and one of our group members came down with altitude sickness due to an underlying heart condition that they were not aware of. Himal and Riddhi got them the medical care they needed on the mountain, arranged for the helicopter evacuation and subsequent care, and arranged an alternative adventure at a lower altitude after they had recovered. Throughout the whole process, we felt very well taken care of and supported.
My girlfriend and I trekked to Mardi Basecamp with our guide Rajesh and our porter Dhan. They both performed admirably during our five-day trek. It was a pleasure having Dhan as our porter; he was courteous, careful with our luggage, and social toward us. Despite walking his own path, he would join in with the conversation along the road when we crossed paths. Rajesh was great as a guide, arranging the seating and sleeping places for us around the road and leaving enough room for the two of us to walk together at times and sometimes walking ahead of us. He was extremely knowledgeable about the route and very helpful, both when things went according to plan and when they did not. As well as arranging extra blankets for us if we were cold, he also helped out in one of the kitchens when the cook was not available and, when our legs were worn out after five days, he arranged a Jeep for us to drive the final part of the journey with. Moreover, he had a relaxed, “Bistari” attitude, which is, in my opinion, the best way to do this kind of trek.
I am very happy to have chosen this company. The owner, Himal, is a very great and friendly person. In addition to that, our guide “Lal Gurung” is really amazing and so strong. Overall, we had a wonderful experience on the Pikey peak trip. It was great to have the porter “Dawa Tamang” with us! My friends and I will be recommending this company to everyone we know!
The first thing I would like to do is thank Himal for helping me to organize this trip even though everything was very last minute due to a conflict with work. As a private guide, he provided me with a very competitive price and he helped me to clear a lot of doubts I had about my trek. They have also been very flexible in accommodating my request to change to my preferred accommodation. As a special thank you, I wish to say a special word of thanks to my guide, Dewan Rai, who always took care of me during the trek, and helped me carry my backpack without asking for extra money. In addition, he took a few good pictures of me as well. A five-day trek to the peak of Everest is a truly remarkable experience, especially for those with limited time. Please do not hesitate to book your tour with this local company to help support the economy of Nepal!
Through a super helpful blog written by a hiking couple, I came across Nepal Wilderness Trekking online. I was looking for a company run by Nepali people with Nepali guides, and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. After I emailed the company, the owner Himal replied within maybe a half hour. Throughout the interview, he provided me with all of the information I could possibly need regarding different trekking options, departures, and costs.
I went to meet Himal as soon as I reached Kathmandu, as I was traveling alone and I wanted to be extra sure about whom I was putting myself in the hands of and I had so many questions to ask. Himal could not have been more kind to me. In addition to clearing all of my doubts, he was extremely informative and just made me feel excited about the trek.
I changed my trek two days before departure (from 3-days Poon Hill to 5-days Mardi Himal Base CampMardi Himal Trek 5 Days) because I wanted something more challenging. Although I was booked for a solo trek, Himal was super accommodating and changed my trekking logistics despite the short notice.
Regarding the trek itself: I cannot recommend this company and its guides highly enough. The guide that I had, Yakhub, was outstanding from start to finish. I met him at the airport in Pokhara, he bought us some fresh fruit and we started our journey. Yakub assisted me in every way possible during the trek when I felt sick and unmotivated, as it’s quite hard on the body, and they were there to support me in every way possible. In addition to ensuring that I felt comfortable and that I was moving at a pace that suited me, he always made me laugh and uplifted my spirit when I couldn’t be bothered walking, and he always met me with a hot cup of tea when I was in need. He also spoke to me about any possible curiosity I may have had about Nepal, trekking in its mountains, and the fascinating culture this country has to offer. I came back from this trek a couple of weeks ago, and I can’t wait to book my next trek with the company.
The three weeks before the hike, I had a back injury and was apprehensive about my fitness level (not good) and safety (as always on solo trips). Having just made it to Pokhara after almost 4 days of travel, I met Manoj, my guide and porter, and just hours later all my worries appeared to be gone. During our consultation, he was knowledgeable, always prepared, and went above and beyond to ensure that I was comfortable. He made me feel extremely safe and taken care of at all times. During my poon hill trek, I turned it into a five-day trip, and he made sure I had the best rooms in every tea house, as well as the best food. I was introduced to Nepalese music, I was shown what locals eat, as well was encouraged to push through the tough hikes. A BIG THANK YOU TO MANOJ! In my opinion, this is one of the best hikes you can do in Nepal if you want to experience some true Nepalese culture at the same time.
My partner and I trekked to Mardi Himal (base camp at 4500m and viewpoint at 4200m) for four nights and five days. This trek was organized by Nepal Wilderness Trekking. Using Google, I located Nepal Wilderness Trekking and contacted Mr. Himal, the owner of the company, via the telephone number provided on the website. In terms of communication, Mr. Himal was responsive, sent us an itinerary promptly, and was accommodating to our needs. When we arrived in Kathmandu, we felt very well taken care of: all our questions were promptly answered. The travel agent booked numerous bus tickets for us based on our text messages, which he would book for us and we would pay directly at the bus station- which was stress-free and relaxed.
On the day of the trek, we were accompanied by our guide, Mr. Rajesh, and porter, Mr. Dhan. I was very impressed with the guide, Mr. Rajesh. He met us at the hotel in Pokhara the day before the hike to make sure we were familiar with the list of things we would need, and prepared us mentally for the trek and what to expect. I have to say that he was always thinking along with us during the trek and he was caring both during the breakfast, lunch, and dinner time and in the accommodation cottages in the evening, arranging extra blankets for me because I tend to get cold easily. As we ascended, we did not know much about the drinking water situation, so he helped us prepare extra bottles of water. He made sure we bought enough bottles at the hills while we were still able to. It is likely that he even prepared food from the menu in one of the rest areas since it would have taken the cook longer to travel to that place. In the evening on the last day when we were exhausted and were dragging our last reserves (very sore muscles), he evaluated the situation and arranged for a jeep for the last 1.5 hours. Our guide, Mr. Rajesh, proved to be very knowledgeable and had plenty of experience trekking above 6000 meters which was evident by the way in which he took care of us. Also, we appreciated Mr. Rajesh’s calm energy, who wasn’t around all the time, but enough to let us explore the trail.
Overall, it was a great experience. The views were spectacular, the trip was breathtaking, and Rajesh and Dhan were fantastic! He is also a very kind and reasonable person who offers competitive prices for high-quality trekking. This company and their team are highly recommended for trekking.
What a wonderful trek! I was in awe at every step! Our trip began the moment we arrived in Kathmandu when a cheerful man named Dan Basnet (or DB for short) greeted the three of us. He served as our guide throughout the duration of our trip. It was a pleasure working with DB’s team. They were very experienced and did everything they could to make our trip a memorable one. Throughout the entire trip, he continually made the best decisions for us based on how we felt, such as encouraging us to walk 40 minutes further so that we could stay in an exceptional, “off the beaten track” lodge. We were extremely well looked after by him and never disappointed with his decisions. We were also given two porters, Surya Rai and Biru Kulung, who were both excellent people. It was amazing to see Surya (who normally is also a guide) have boundless energy and Biru (who normally is a chef) come up with the most wonderful Momos one night!
In Chomrong, we were met by Kamal, our climbing guide, and the mountain porters Lakpa, Kaima, and Ongchhu. They were all great, friendly people and we can’t thank them enough for their support, particularly Kamal who was a quiet, unflappable star and a very experienced guide.
There were some great accommodations that DB arranged for us, especially at Chuile and Tolka, which were awe-inspiring in terms of hospitality and with the exception of MBC & ABC had hot showers! We did not have a bad meal during our entire trip…every Dal Bhat, Momo, fried noodles, or veg rice that we had was delicious!
As we were not able to climb Tharpu Chuli because of its dangerous nature, we have rebooked with Himal & the Nepal Wilderness Trekking Company again, asking for the same team, but this time aiming for Mera Peak.Mera Peak Climbing It would not be a problem for us to recommend this trekking company to others. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again soon.
We did the Poon Hill trek for 5 days with our very nice guide Hari. The journey is ok for unprepared trekkers! We recommend going slowly as there are a lot of steps so that the knees work until the end of the trek. Various countryside, very nice. Three of the four accommodations were ok with private bathrooms and hot water, one was particularly nice. Communication with Himal before the trek was very easy, and everything was prepared when we arrived in Katmandou.
It was great Annapurna Base Camp trekking in the Nepal Wilderness! Himal is a really friendly and accommodating guy. Super smooth experience right from the pick up at Pokhara, throughout the trail, and the drop off at my hotel after.
Rajesh Gurung was a wonderful guide. It was super fun trekking with him! He’s a trove of information on all treks. He even spotted wild deer in the forest to show me. Would definitely trek with him again.
Very great place to plan a trek. Walking into Himal’s office you can tell he is a great and experienced trekker himself. If I recall correctly, he has been running the agency since 1990. I asked him for a very strong guide because I wanted to do the Everest Three Pass Trek in 7 days and he gave me a great guide, Parkhidhan Tamang. At first, I was unsure that I needed a guide, but Parkhi helped me so much, that I don’t think I could have done it without him. He guided me through tricky and technical sections of the route – he had friends at all of the best local teahouses and facilitated my stay at each one. Sometimes when we were running late he would call ahead to reserve our spot. He had the strength to both complete my ambitious trek and also support me at the same time.
The 3 passes trek was amazing. Himal is a friendly owner who responds quickly to questions.
Mingmar, our guide, was excellent. We are grateful for everything he did for us. He is very familiar with the route and knows everybody and every town up in the mountains. He is fun to be around. He made us feel safe and we highly recommend him to anyone who goes trekking.
Our porter Fulonn was also great. Incredible to see how easily he is walking through the mountains. We considered doing the trek without a porter, however, you’ll provide the opportunity for someone to work and get some extra income. And then we would recommend Fulton.
I completed the Poon Hill Trek with my guide, Lal, from 20 to 22 March 2022, leaving from Nayapul. The customer service of Nepal Wilderness Trekking is outstanding, from booking to completion of the hike – Himal answered all my questions and responded promptly to messages; my guide picked me up from Pokhara airport and dropped me off on my next adventure. My guide Lal Gurg Dhai was wonderful as well – he treated me like his sister, made sure I had comfortable rooms to stay during the hike, has been ever so patient with me and made sure I was safe. After a cleansing rain the day before, we were able to hike to the peak of Poon Hill on 22 March. Don’t forget your gloves!
Nepal Wilderness Trekking was brilliant from the beginning. I had a lot of questions about the trip before I signed up, and again once I signed up. As a result of how well organized the trip appeared to be and its reasonable cost, I had no worries about the trip.As a solo traveler, I was a bit concerned about being on my own, but Yakub, my Mardi Himal guide, put me at ease as soon as he picked me up.
My Mardi Himal 5 day trek was a memorable experience. Our guide and porter made the trek as smooth as possible by looking out for us. I felt that the trek length was ideal given my limited time and provided the most incredible views of the mountains. There was delicious food, clean tea houses, and challenging but manageable hiking.
I recommend bringing a head torch and a book when hiking to the viewpoint for sunrise. This is because the hike can finish by 2 pm and the route is quiet at the moment!
I highly recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking as a thank-you for an amazing experience.
This company is amazing. Being a solo female traveler, I was nervous about finding a good guide. Himal was always available to answer all my questions as I worked out the details of my trip. Yakub, my tour guide, was kind, knowledgeable, and a lot of fun to be with. Without him, I wouldn’t have been able to complete my 5-day Mardi Himal trek! I soon felt as if I was trekking with a friend, complete with inside jokes, and I was sad to say goodbye at the end. The only regret I had was not booking a longer trek… or hiring a porter. If you’re on the fence, you should absolutely hire a porter! The company is very dependable and adaptable and I would recommend them to anyone!
What a wonderful experience! My guide made the Pikey Peak trek so simple for me, all I had to do was show up and annoy the trekkers. I enjoyed getting to know my guide and porter as well as the other members of my group. The guide service handled all permits very well. The accommodations were great, and he made everything so easy for me. The challenge was real, but I enjoyed it. He was knowledgeable and helpful. I would use this guide service again!
We found our guide and porter to be extremely helpful and accommodating. Because our mother is 61, we took two extra days to complete the trek (recommended). We enjoyed having a knowledgeable guide to help us stay where it made sense. We are all Jain vegetarians, but our dietary needs are always met by delicious food. Regarding the trek itself, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri are two of the world’s treasures, and we will be returning to the Himalayas again. Since the guiding company handled all logistics, we just had to show up in Kathmandu and hold on for the ride. A guide isn’t essential if you’re a logistics expert and a capable trekker and navigator, but for us, it was well worth it. Nepal is an amazing country!
Lal and I had a great time trekking up the Mardi Himal. His English was excellent, and he stepped above and beyond to ensure all your needs were met. Having someone who knew the land share with you information about the peaks in the distance and the mountain villages in the distance was enjoyable.Highly recommended for anyone seeking a guiding service in the Himalayas
As this was my first trek, I got in touch with Himal after reading reviews on Trip Advisor. He provided us with a great deal of support from the time we emailed to the time we met in their office. As it was our first trek, our guide Riddhi Gale was amazing and cooperative, even though it was an off-season trek. We encountered snow during the trek, which made it difficult for our hands. The trek proceeded as planned. Riddhi promised us he would help us reach our destination, and he did. Sanjay, our porter, was always smiling with no complaints.
It was a great experience, Riddhi is a great guide. For anyone interested in trekking through Nepal Wilderness Trekking, I highly recommend him. His team is fantastic. Everything has been taken care of and they have tried to give us as much comfort as possible. This will be my second trip with them.
My journey began in Lukla, where I met my guide for the next 12 days! As soon as I was greeted by Dewan, I knew that I was going to have an unforgettable trip. Dewan made sure I was well taken care of from checking my gear to feeding me at the local church which was an amazing experience to be welcomed to the mountains. Those 12 days were the most memorable of my life and I wanted to thank Dewan for making it such a memorable experience for me. This was done by leading the way, feeding me local food, educating me about the mountains and names, and just having me laugh all the time!
In Lukla airport, we parted with a lifelong friend and having achieved my dream of reaching Everest Base Camp, it’s fair to say that I hope to meet up with him in the Himalayas again! Also, thanks to Himal for arranging the service, which was extremely efficient and kept me updated throughout.
We had an amazing experience, and he really made sure we were comfortable during the trek. We had a great time together and laughed a lot.
Everything, from the places we stayed to the food we ate, was excellent. It couldn’t have been better.
As for the trek itself, it was beautiful and highly recommended. It wasn’t the easiest, but neither was it the most difficult. You just have to take your time.
Finally, Nepal Wilderness Trekking was very easy to work with. Himal made us feel assured that the prices were fair and that they knew what they were doing.
Nepal Wilderness Trekking took me on the Poon Hill trek.
We trekked for three days Poon Hill with guide Yakub. Because it was my first trek in Nepal, I felt more comfortable starting with a guide and local agency. I did not regret it. From start to finish, Yakub was a great guide. He communicated effectively before the trek began. Then, during the trek, he made sure we were comfortable and had the best experience. Providing clear explanations, ensuring we felt comfortable during the walk, and always being right behind us to be able to see the whole group (of 3). He made sure we had the best food and lodging along the way. With every request we had, he was very flexible, and his main focus was on making sure we were happy.
The bonus for me is that we were able to build a real relationship with Yakub, not just guides to customers, but companions who share this experience with us all.
After the trek, we even had dinner together. Arian and Dunstan I Dunstan, whom I shared the trek with before landing in Nepal, are additional bonuses. It definitely made the experience perfect for me. Thank you for being my companion on this journey and sharing all these experiences 🙂
We would like to thank Wilderness Trekking for arranging this trek. I will definitely recommend you to friends who want to trek in Nepal.
Experience the beauty of the Everest Base Camp Trek
I have only good things to say about this agency and their staff for the second time! It was wonderful! It was a fantastic service, I had a wonderful time, and we would love to come back again! Highly recommended!
Himal arranged for a porter guide and a porter to meet us when we arrived in Lukla for the Everest Base Camp trek. Don’t just hire guides from Lukla as they may not have the correct gear or insurance. The porter and porter guide were both insured and very helpful. I would like to hire guides through this company on my next trip to Nepal.
We were guided by Lal Gurung on our journey through the villages of Dhampus and Sarangkot from Pokhara. It was not a difficult hike compared to ABC or EBC. In addition to guiding us through the trek, Lal was very knowledgeable. He has also taught us a lot about Nepal’s culture, tradition, religion, and mountains. Arranging the accommodation and meals was very easy for him. He went to the restaurant to help with the preparations. Our porter was also very friendly. This was a very good experience with Lal and the trekking company.
As this is my second visit to Nepal, I just booked a trekking package from Pokhara. Himal did a very good job. Whenever I asked him about a trekking route, he responded promptly and tailored it to my needs. When my husband and I arrived in Kathmandu, we contacted Himal in his office to arrange the TIMS.
We were able to book a cheaper flight to Pokhara thanks to him. Due to fog in Pokhara, the flight was canceled and we decided to take a tourist bus the next day. Himal helped us book it, found a room for our extra night in Kathmandu. He also notified our guide and porter who were on their way to Pokhara of our delay. There is no hassle at all. Also, our guide Manoj and porter Chandra did a great job. Both of them were not talkative but always kept an eye on us in case we needed help. On the last day of trekking, we took a local jeep in Lumiere, which was an amazing experience. A small jeep could carry almost 20 people at once!
Our trip to Nepal and the summit of Mera peak was made possible by Nepal Wilderness. We had a great time. Himal was very helpful from day one. Communication was smooth before the trip and everything was organized for us when we arrived. They were also very flexible. In our case, we did not have a guide on the trek up to Base Camp, but one for the summit. Nothing was a problem, and Himal was very accommodating.
I hiked with my cousin from Nagarkot to Dhulikhel with the help of Suk and Sujan. I enjoyed their company and did not have to carry bags for 25 km or worry about how to get from A to B. The next day, Sujan stayed with us in Kathmandu and showed us a great local restaurant and a good place to shop for outdoor clothing.
I would definitely contact them again if I were in the area. In addition, Himal responded quickly to all emails and provided information. I am pleased with the service.
We just returned from a spectacular trek in Langtang National Park with my wife. Before arriving in Kathmandu, we emailed Himal – he was very responsive and helpful (we hadn’t planned anything in advance) – and after speaking with a couple of other agents, we decided he was the most qualified.
Our expectations were not disappointed. During the trek, he arranged our guide – Lal Gurung – who was outstanding. Ask for Lal if you book with Himal and you’ll be extremely well taken care of. He really added to the experience by having extensive knowledge of the region.
We will be booking with only one team when we return.
I discovered the Nepal Wilderness Trekking website while preparing for our trek to Everest Base Camp. It was easy to navigate and very informative. Mr. Himal responded to my email quickly and provided clear answers to my questions. A porter/guide was booked through him at a competitive price.
When we arrived in Kathmandu, he helped us get a SIM card and rent sleeping bags. Our TIMS permits were already with him.
Due to cloud cover, we had trouble leaving Kathmandu to fly to Lukla. I contacted Mr. Himal several times for advice. He responded quickly each time and was very helpful.
Akas, our porter/guide, greeted us when we arrived in Lukla. Akas is 22 years old and very strong. He speaks English well and was very helpful and attentive during our trek.
Unfortunately, our trek was shorter than we expected. Mr. Himal refunded us the unused portion immediately. I highly recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking and Akas as a porter/guide.
Himal’s agency is outstanding. Langtang was done in 9 days (started in Dunche, ended in Syabrubesi) + 2 bus rides. (Transportation, meals, guest houses, …), our guide and porters were really friendly and professional, our guide kept us informed at all times, and the meals and guest houses were really good. If you want to see Langtang in a perfect way, this is the agency to go to! Highly recommended!
Arrived at KTM without any reservations. Based on reviews, we visited a few agencies, but Himal inspired the most confidence in us (the other agencies weren’t as trustworthy). The porter guide we hired from Lukla-Gokyo-Renjo La Pass was friendly, helpful, and kind.
Dhan Raj (the porter guide) was great. Always friendly, attentive, and cheerful. Although he didn’t speak as well English as some of the full guides we met on the trail, we knew that before booking (Porter-guides are still in training, so it would be foolish to expect them to speak fluent English).
We highly recommend this agency and will contact them again when we return to Nepal
Panchase Trek was a wonderful experience for us. Bam, our porter guide from Nepal Wilderness Trekking, was very helpful and took very good care of us. The Panchase Trek is highly recommended – stunning views, quiet villages, very few other trekkers. You could also walk through incredible Rhododendron forests in April as well, either in autumn or winter.
I booked an 11-day package (9 days trekking, 2 days traveling) with Himal Ghale at Nepal Wilderness trekking for the Tamang heritage trail trek, it was a great experience with my porter cum guide.
This section of the trek involves daily ascents and descents of 500-1000 m. of the trek involves a more-or-less upward climb to Kyanjin, the final destination and highest point on the trek at 3860m. On some days, I walked for up to 6-7 hours.
Keep to the daily schedule, and reach Langtang on Day 6 to get to Kyanjin before the afternoon clouds roll in unless you intend to add another day or two for walks to higher altitude, such as to Kyanjin Ri (a two-hour climb).
While this is a well-known and popular tourist trail, if you do not have a guide you may take the wrong trail, as many junctions are not marked and it is unclear where to go. Our guide/porter was young and not very experienced, having done this trek just once before, and we went off trail a few times.
Reuben is my name, and I have been working in tourism since 1984. It is my second time working with Himal to organize my entire trip. One word describes it all: EXCELLENT. He is a great professional. Everything was well organized when climbing Island Peak. If you are planning a Nepal trip, this is the company to work with.
Ganesh Himal Ruby Valley Homestay/lodge trek Mar/Apr 2018
Nepal Wilderness Trekking again organized our private trek (also Langtang in October 2014) since we were happy with their service and we like their commitment to the wellbeing of their employees and the local communities where they operate. As before Himal Ghale, the owner arranged everything really well. They provided transportation, a guide, and a porter, all according to our preferences, and worked with us via email to map out an itinerary that was different from our usual. Oh, and he’s also a famous singer in Nepal! Lal was everything we had hoped for: a very friendly, caring, and joyful guide with a lot of experience and a deep understanding of geography, nature, and culture. We couldn’t have made it without him and we recommend him without any doubt. And our powerful young porter, Arun, helped us out when we had trouble crossing a pass after a long day… Small but solid trekking agency with lots of personal attention, highly recommended!
Trekking the Manaslu Circuit with Nepal Wilderness Trekking
We completed the Manaslu Circuit trek with Suk Bahadur Ghale as a guide and Rack Lama as a porter. In our case, we didn’t take an all-inclusive package but only booked a guide and a porter and then arranged the permits. Email contact with the owner, Himal Ghale, was pleasant and prompt.
Upon our arrival, the permits were arranged quickly, and we were helped with other needs like renting sleeping bags and getting a local SIM card.During the trek, our guide Suk was excellent at guiding us. He has a good understanding of the trial. His coaching skills were excellent during the tougher times. He was always there to help when things got tricky (such as landslides). At the teahouses, he was always on top of things, so we never had to worry about ordering food or paying bills. I found him to be honest and humorous.
Besides carrying our stuff and singing Nepalese songs, Rack also acted as a guide and assisted Suk with everything we mentioned. For us, it was like having an extra guide. Other people we tagged along with joked that they wanted to trade guides and porters with us. Because Suk & Rack were more of a help to them than their own guide!
The only thing less positive is that they both beat us too much at the card game we taught them.
During the monsoon season, Himal arranged a wonderful ABC trek. Himal is prompt and clear in his responses, and our guide Suk was amazing. He entertained us all the way and looked after us well! I am extremely happy and blessed with this trekking experience!
Excellent custom-tailored service at a very fair price
We (my wife and I) were very happy with the service we received from Nepal Wilderness Trekking during our Manaslu Trekking. Hemal Ghale’s Internet presence is transparent about its pricing; there are no hidden costs or surprises. The email responses from Himal Ghale were also very prompt and courteous. Our special permits were arranged before we arrived in Kathmandu, which was a big help.
This was the most memorable trip I have ever taken in the Himalayas. I have trekked in the Himalayas many times. Lakbar (porter) and Mingmar (guide) were exceptional. He seemed to be a celebrity along the way. We walked about 300kms and people came to shake his hand wherever we went.
During the first two weeks, there were almost no tourists in thAfter trekking with thousands of trekkers, this is a very welcome change. Hikers. We crossed a pass into an almost unpopulated area, where I had the fortunate fortune to see a couple of red pandas. There were cedar forests that blew me away. The cedar forests I thought had mostly all been cut down were pristine to my surprise. After that, we went up Lang Tang valley on a well-worn trail where tourists were aplenty. The devastation caused by the earthquake is shocking to see. Mountain people have dealt with earthquake damage admirably. They are calm, kind, and hospitable. Among the nicest people, you will ever meet! Himal, Mingmar, and Lakbar are all highly recommendable. One day, I hope to go to the mountains with them again!
Himal helped me book flights to Lukla and arrange a porter. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, I went to his office, paid for the flight, received the tickets, and he told me a porter would be waiting for me at Lukla airport (even though I arrived 6 hours late). I requested a porter who spoke some English, and I got one (around US$20 per day and he carried 20 kg for me and my friend). By the time we reached each village, he had already arranged accommodations.
Himal can arrange a guide or anything else you need in any part of Nepal. He is professional and efficient. It was a leap of faith to use his service, as I found him on the internet as I just needed a porter and flights, not a whole tour, and wanted to do it on our own, for a good price. Himal arranged this for us.
If you plan on doing the Everest Base Camp trek, hire a porter, drink 5 liters of water a day, and add an extra day to the trek. We added in 3 extra days, took it slower, and we didn’t even get a headache.
Himal is definitely worth using. He made my trek stress-free and arranged everything for my arrival in Nepal.
The NWT helped my climbing partner and me reach the summit of a Himalayan peak. Visiting the Khumbu (Everest) Range and connecting with the people and culture was an incredible experience. Our porters and guides made friends with us, and we would be happy to return to Nepal to experience their kindness again. It would be my pleasure to work with my friends at Nepal Wilderness Trekking again and recommend it to others
During our two trips to Nepal in April 2013 and May 2014, we enjoyed fantastic treks with Nepal Wilderness Trekking. We were a family of four with two children aged 3 and 7. The kids had a great time. The majority of the time, my son spent in a porter’s basket, which he loved, where he napped often. I appreciated the fact that the staff enjoyed children so much. The second trip I took was just my son, my brother, and my 77-year-old mother. The NWT staff was also very flexible and accommodating during this trip. I cannot say enough good things about them, and whenever we talk about Nepal, we always recommend them to our friends.
Whenever I have visited Nepal (mostly trekking), Nepal Wilderness Trekking, or more specifically the team led by Himal Ghale has consistently lived up to my expectations as reliable localhost.
Assistance, guides, porters, etc. Companies provided services that were helpful and at a reasonable rate to make trekking an enjoyable and memorable experience.
Thank you, Himal and team! I will definitely use your service again when I visit the Nepal wilderness in the future!
We had a wonderful time. As we visited in October 2015, he made more than expected arrangements for us, that too during the difficult post-earthquake recovery period. We are grateful.
Nepal Wilderness Trekking was fantastic. They provided pick-up from the airport, accommodation before the trek, flights to Lukla, and an awesome 21-day trek through three passes, into Everest base camp, and then on to the summit of Island Peak – highly recommend!
Mr. Lal guided me on a six-night trek to Annapurna Base Camp. In a friendly atmosphere, I felt safe with a reliable expert by my side. For any Nepal adventure, Lal and Himal organization is the best choice no matter what level of experience you have.
My husband and I have been to Nepal twice, and both times, Himal arranged internal flights and reliable, professional porters for us. It is always a pleasure to deal with him. He is friendly, efficient, and tailors his services to our exact needs with a lot of Nepalese charm and smiles. We would not hesitate to use Himal’s services on our next trip to Nepal and can confidently recommend Himal’s company to future clients. No matter whether you are a novice or a seasoned trekker/mountain lover, he can deliver the best adventure in Nepal for you.
15 days of independent trekking in the Everest region with a porter/guide. Great organization and communication with Himal (thank you very much!).
We would like to thank Bandhan, our English-speaking porter/guide. We were a couple of trekking on our own for the first time in this area, and he was very helpful, polite, and accommodating to our needs. He took care of all our lodging arrangements. We needed extra time to acclimatize and he was very flexible when we needed to change our itinerary. I would definitely recommend him.
He organized our recent trek to the Manaslu circuit and was nothing short of excellent. Our guide went the extra mile to ensure our trek was not disrupted by the Diwali festival. He obtained our permits in time, allowing us to avoid the horror stories about long delays in Kathmandu that other trekkers had told us.
Himal met us at his office in Thamel (very centrally located for tourists) and introduced us to our guide, Dhruba, who picked us up from our hotel and guided us on our trek. Himal’s friend and longtime colleague Dhruba was an excellent guide. Throughout our trip, he made sure we were safe, fed well, and adjusted our itinerary to suit our fitness level and priorities.
Thank you Himal for organizing our trip, keep up the good work!
An amazing experience on my Tamang Heritage & Langtang Valley Trek!
I chose Nepal Wilderness Trekking for my solo trek in Nepal because they were the best. Himal was easy to communicate with from the beginning. Whenever I had a question, he was always happy to answer it and gave me great recommendations based on my availability. During those 10 days in Tamang Villages and The Langtang Valley, my dear guide MANOJ was my best companion. He was attentive, respectful, and careful throughout, with a great deal of knowledge about the area and its people. Himal’s company is the best for professionalism and experience, and I recommend Manoj as the best guide for your Tamang Heritage & Langtang Valley Trekking. This trip was full of beauty, adventure, breathtaking landscapes, and kind people.
Before we discovered we would need a guide for the Manaslu trek, we had decided on the trek. It can be a bit overwhelming as there are so many trekking companies in Kathmandu. Himal at Wilderness Trekking is a good choice. He was a porter before becoming a guide, then set up the company, so his knowledge of the treks is excellent. Our guide DB was really friendly and knowledgeable and spoke very good English and was good fun to be with. We don’t usually use guides and were a bit wary at first. Our guide really listened to what we wanted and tailored our trek accordingly. There are no hidden charges with Himal.
Makaraj Tamang and I had a fantastic trip to EBC! His knowledge of the area and friendliness made the trip great. He made a lasting impression on us, as well as fellow travelers we met along the way! I highly recommend him.
As we had never hiked for more than 3 days (or experienced sub-zero temperatures before), we decided to do EBC in winter with Nepal Wilderness Trekking. When we arrived in Kathmandu, Himal, the owner of the company, met us and helped us get the gear we needed. Our porter/guide Makaraj Tamang made our trip to EBC and back an unforgettable experience. His friendliness and helpfulness extended not only to us but also to the other trekkers staying at the lodges we stayed at. Everything proceeded smoothly and the trek was well organized and flexible to our needs.
With our guide, Yakub, we embarked on a 7D6N ABC trek from Kathmandu! From the airport transfer to the hotel to the transportation to Pokhara, where the trek began, we were well taken care of. Yakub is thoughtful caring. He made sure that we were laughing and enjoying ourselves laughing throughout the trek. We experienced prior knee issues, and I struggled with the numerous steps, but Yakub and our porter, Manjung, were so patient with me and walked at my pace. We were so impressed by the Nepali service provided by Yakub and Manjung! I highly recommend them!
I would recommend this trek because of the spectacular views of the Himalayan region!
Wilderness Trekking is an excellent agency for trekking and climbing tours in Nepal. Himal’s professionalism has greatly impressed me. Throughout the trip, he never tired of answering my thousand questions – and this almost instantly! Because he has done many kinds of treks himself, as a pleasure or even as a guide, he knows what he is talking about. He remains attentive to any requests or sudden weather changes. Parkhi Dhan, my guide, was absolutely great, trustworthy, and knowledgeable. Parkhi Dhan was one of the most sociable guides I met along the way.
Due to heavy snowfall, I was unable to cross the three high passes, so I trekked each valley separately to the end, then into the next one and back again. The most beautiful panorama and view on Mount Everest can definitely be seen from Gokyo and Gokyo Ri if you have limited time and are not sure which valley to go to. The Khumbu Valley is also beautiful, especially with snow.
Despite going to Kathmandu knowing nothing or anyone, I have left with two new friends – THANK YOU HIMAL and PARKHI DHAN!!!
I just completed the five-day Mardi Himal trek with my guide Rajesh and I had an amazing time! Despite some unexpected weather, Rajesh always made sure I was comfortable and ultimately my experience ended smoothly. We were not able to reach the upper viewpoint due to heavy snow, but we went as high as we felt safe. The views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhare were spectacular.
The tea houses we chose for the trek met or exceeded my expectations. I was always comfortable in my accommodations and the food was excellent. With all permits, guide/porter, room/board, and transportation included, the prices are very competitive. Also, communication via email, collecting my permits from Himal in Thamel, and meeting Rajesh in Pokhara all went very smoothly!
In February, we flew into Nepal and met Himal in Kathmandu before our trek. It was easy to find the office and Himal was always available to answer questions or make adjustments for us. There, we met our guide and porter, Yakub and Ashok. Both of them were extremely friendly and knowledgeable about Nepal and the area we visited. We were able to customize the trek to accommodate our needs because it was not too challenging. Seeing the view from the top of Poon Hill was incredible, and we would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in trekking in Nepal. Throughout the trip, Yakub and Ashok were amazing, and we will definitely return to Nepal for an extended trek next time.
After looking at many companies on the web, we chose this one based on a recommendation I saw. It was a pleasure to deal with Himal, he was honest and helpful. Suk picked us up from our hotel, and then we picked up Jaya, Our Pikey Peak trekbegan with an introduction to Suk, our porter, and it was evident that we were going to be taken care of and have a memorable time. Suk spoke excellent English and was very eager to explain everything about Nepal and point out interesting things while making us feel very relaxed. Trekking was enjoyable, and the scenery was breathtaking. Suk helped us with the menus and waited on our every need. We both feel like we have made some nice friends and will definitely return.
My husband and I just returned from an 8-day Mardi Himal and village trek and had a blast! His team and Himal were so easy to work with right from the start! Because of the covid restrictions, he was able to help secure our visas and permits (even before we booked a trek)! Whenever we had a question, Himal was always available to answer it!
It was an amazing trek and we could not have asked for a better guide and porter! Both Lal Gurung and Rajesh were professional, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to work with! Since it was just the four of us, we felt like family and got to spend a lot of time together! Though the trek was challenging, Lal was always encouraging! The team made sure we were taken care of at all times.
Even during these difficult times, the entire process felt very safe! I would highly recommend this company to anyone interested in trekking through Nepal!
I had an amazing trip with a wonderful guide named Riddhi. He was always smiling and helpful and gave us details about the places we visited, the plants and animals we saw. She gave us tips on food, what to eat, and what to try. He also made sure we were safe. Also at the office, we met Himal who was extremely helpful, honest, and polite. He helped us get into Nepal with the stricter COVID immigration policies. He went above and beyond his duties to help us book our bus trip to Pokhara and back. I highly recommend this agency!
I went to Nepal for the second time in my life during the Covid confusion. I visited Nepal in March of this year. I went on my journey alone. Rajesh Gurung, my guide from the Nepal Wilderness Company, introduced me to Mr. Himal two years ago. I usually ask for more climbing options as an insatiable, lifelong hiker. Thus, Mr. Himal organized my trip in detail, granting me, even, the trek to Tilicho Lake, Thorong La Pass, andMardi Himal.
From Kathmandu, we took a local bus to Bessisahar, then took a jeep to Bahundanda, where we stayed overnight and began our walk the next morning. I take this opportunity to oppose some complaints relating to the replacement of some original and partly damaged pathways. In my opinion this is really, the minority issue in comparison with the natural beauty of the river Marsyangdi, gorgeous landscapes, scenes associating with another world, breathtaking views of the Annapurna range, and ancient cities that stretch along the way as you proceed your way upstream of the river;
To name just a few, Tal, Chame, Pisang, Manang, Muktinath have preserved the atmosphere of sacredness and kindness from some forgotten times in history. On the lower destinations, the weather was pleasant; sunny and warm, and snow-covered, on the Tilicho Lake (4.919 m) and Thorong La Pass (5.416), and almost tropical, on the way to Ghorepani and Ghandruk.
He has already crossed Thorong La Pass seven times in his life. He is familiar with all of the Annapurna region, and with the tea-house management staff, so that even during these times of possible reductions in transport and lodging, he can still provide quick and effective solutions. I enjoyed his company and his warm personality. His hidden strength, caution, diligence, and care had made me feel safe. I highly recommend his assistance, the advice of Mr. Himal, and the services provided by the Nepal Wilderness Company.
Mardi Himal trek was a great adventure for me! It took us five days to complete and the difficulty level was manageable. Mr. Himal was easy to communicate with at the office, and we even had tea together before the trek. Riddhi, my friend and guide, did an amazing job! Nepal Wilderness Trekking handled all the permits, logistics, flights, etc., so there is no need to worry. This is the best time to go on a trek. There were no crowds on the trails or in the teahouses!
This trek with Nepal Wilderness Trekking is highly recommended. It was very worthwhile. The view was stunning.
2 weeks on the Annapurna circuit, We received perfect organization and professional care from Himal during our trip on April 2021 to Nepal Annapurna circuit trip, with the help of the excellent and kind Sherpas Chandra and Rabi, despite procedural obstacles related to COVID19 and weather delays.
I just finished a trip with my husband, Three passes trek (Ama Dablam BC, Island Peak BC, EBC, Chukhung Ri, Kala Patthar, Gokyo Ri, Bhote Koshi Valley) over 24 days. We met our wonderful porter/guide Makaraj Tamang thanks to Himal Ghale who responded to all our e-mails promptly and competently.
In all situations, Makar was willing to help (finding the most suitable lodges at the best price, giving information on the landscape, culture, and food). It was a joy to start every new day seeing him smile and have fun with me. Throughout our stay, he was very attentive and considerate so that we always felt safe. Trekking in the Everest region is possible with Nepal Wilderness Trekking and Guiding Makar Tamang.
Great trek, great guide, helped with all papers, helped with force-Majeure situations. I did the Everest Region and Gokyo trek with this agency in August 2021. The agency helped prepare all the paperwork needed to enter the country during pandemics. Second, the guide Parki Dan is a great guy who helped me a lot and became a good friend of mine.
Third, when unexpected circumstances occurred (a flight cancellation for several days in Lukla, landslides blocking the road), Himal and his agency were willing to help! Fourth, they are pleasant and honest.
In April of this year, my husband and I hired a guide from the agency, Mr. Makaraj Tamang. We had a great time. Mr. Himal, the owner of the agency, answered all of our online questions quickly and efficiently. He was also very helpful on-site. In addition, he respected our “independent trekkers” attitude. It was highly appreciated that he did not try to upsell us services we did not need, so thank you Himal, and 5 stars for not being pushy.
Mr. Makaraj was very knowledgeable and talkative. We learned a lot about Nepal’s culture. During the snowstorm, he walked us through glaciers like it was a stroll in the park on Sunday. He made us feel safe. Thanks for making our trip enjoyable.
I had a great time on the trek. It was likely caused by a pandemic, but to be alone at all the peaks was amazing. This trek is well worth trying even during crowded times since it is so breathtaking.Nepal Wilderness Trekking and Makaraj as a guide are highly recommended.
I just completed the five-day Mardi Himal trek with my guide Rajesh and I had an amazing time! Despite some unexpected weather, Rajesh always made sure I was comfortable and ultimately my experience ran smoothly.to heavy snow, we weren’t able to get to the upper viewpoint but we proceeded as high as he felt safe. A spectacular view of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhare greeted us at the end of the hike.
The tea houses we chose for the trek met or exceeded my expectations. I was always comfortable in my accommodations and the food was excellent. We offer extremely competitive prices since we have all permits, a guide/porter, room/board, and transportation included. From email communication to collecting my permits from Himal in Thamel and meeting Rajesh in Pokhara, everything went smoothly!
For the Langtang Trek, we traveled with our guide Lal Gurung. I could not have asked for a better person to guide our small family group than Lal, who was a wonderful guide and took care of all our needs and requests. After we reached Kyanjin Gompa, we completed the trekking part of our trip since we were traveling into the Christmas break. Lal arranged for a charter helicopter to pick us up from almost directly out front of the tea house and take us straight to the airport in Kathmandu after we had explored the area for a few days. The journey itself was incredible; flying through the Himalayas on Christmas Day with all of the highest peaks in the world surrounding us under crystal clear skies all the way back.
The trek itself was a tough first few days of steep climbing trails through beautiful forest and mountain valleys, then it opened up as we progressed. As the earthquake has left its mark in various areas, crossing some of the rockfalls and slides definitely brings home the lives lost and damage done in the region. Great to see all the work that has been done and is still being done on the re-building. The tea houses all had great facilities, and the local owners made the experience unforgettable. Himal at Nepal Wilderness Tours selected the perfect guide for our family and made sure the helicopter picked us up on Christmas Day. A big thank you to Lal for being an amazing guide and now friend, and to Himal for bringing us together.
I was unable to join any group due to my date constraints. Therefore, I asked Himal of Nepal Wilderness Trekking to organize for me an individual trek in Gokyo valley for 14 days. This was so I could enjoy Fifth Lake, the glacier, and other parts of the valley. I was offered a much better rate by him than any other trekking company for an individual trek with a guide. As a guide, Sushil Rai (Nabin) not only explained a lot to me about nature and mountains, he also paid attention to my altitude adaptation. The lodges we stayed in were always of very high quality.
I am grateful to Himal and Nabin for their excellent organization. I am also grateful to them for lending me souvenirs from the trip.
Poon Hill trek + Ghandruk village took us 4 days, and those were the most memorable days of our lives. Riddhi, our guide, made us feel comfortable the entire trip, always keeping an eye on our wellbeing and adjusting the pace accordingly. He told us all about the majestic Himalayan mountains, Nepalese culture, and languages. Our lodges were top-notch, with hot showers and incredible food every day. I am so grateful to Himal and Riddhi for the perfect trip, and I am already planning when to go back. Much love to you both, see you again soon!
Nepal Wilderness Trekking Team offers another trek in Ruby Valley! Our all-time favorite guide Manoj Tamang led us on this 12-day cultural trek through Ruby Valley after we completed the Kanchenjunga trek last year. The Nepal Wilderness team arranged an itinerary tailored to us and discussed every detail with us before we began our journey. Our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating, making everything hassle-free so we could just enjoy the trek! We visited the Ruby Valley trek during the festival season, and every village included us in their celebrations. We were taught traditional Nepalese dances and were taught how to cook delicious Nepalese foods like roti and chapati. We were also invited into everyone’s home for a cup of tea or some local rakshi.
It was a great experience staying in homes along the way to Chalish and Khading villages. It was because we got to experience traditional village life in Nepal and meet so many beautiful people. There was so much generosity on the trek and everyone went above and beyond to ensure that we were enjoying ourselves and felt like part of the family. The scenery along the trek was breathtaking, with clear weather and numerous views of the Langtang and GANESH Himal mountain ranges. In addition to passing through a variety of landscapes, our trek in Ruby Valley (GANESH HIMAL BASE CAMP) was off the beaten track. As a result, we were able to enjoy the trek and incredible views without crowds. If you are looking for a true Nepalese trekking experience, I highly recommend the Ruby Valley trail.
Trekking in Nepal was An Experience Of A Lifetime! Nothing can prepare you for the Amazing Sights, the beauty of the land and warmth of the Nepalese People. Up in the Mountain, you will lose yourself to the breathtaking scenery and exceed every Expectation.
Our guide, Simba Ghale is An Experienced, senior lead guide and the most friendly and charming man on the trail. Looking after our every need, Simbir made our Pikey Peak adventure one we will never forget.
Thank you Himal, you are our brother
Dear Himal
My pictures are ready, and I made a best of selection for you to remember us seven from Germany. One part of me still is on the way through the beautiful mountain area with you. I enjoyed every moment of our Everest base campKala Patthar trek Tour.
You were the best guidance, care, and friendship. And for having so much fun together.
You are a good singer. I heard you on Youtube (Tom told us the link) on the tape you gave us. I made some pictures for Janga, Ram & Kumar. Perhaps you have the opportunity for providing the envelopes to them.
Have a good time with the Pictures.
All my best wishes & many greetings from Germany
Please let me thank you for the recent and incredible trekking experience we had in Nepal Everest base camp trek with my kids. For my sons and I, it was the trip of a lifetime, and I can say that a large part of the success and excitement of the visit to Everest Base Camp Trek with kids was the way you guided the trek.
You should be commended for the way in which you took care of all our needs and concerns, the way you helped us achieve all the things we wanted to do, and of course, the knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm displayed throughout the adventure.
We had some very tough days, and I realize that without the positive approach and encouragement, we might not have made it to all the places we did – so thank you.
I can honestly say that as a guide you exceeded all our expectations for care and responsibility, and this is a great credit to you.
I wish you all the best of luck in the future.
Suk is an experienced trekking guide and a great companion. I could feel that I am traveling the Manaslu circuit trek with a good friend! He’s always eager to help, and that’s why I felt very safe. I genuinely recommend Suk and Nepal Wilderness Trek, and I’d love to travel with Suk again when we’re back in Nepal.
Excellent service Nepal Wilderness Trekking I know Himal from my friends’ recommendation. He’s accommodating & professional and fast response. I & my friend, Hari met in Kathmandu for the first time on 4 November 2017.
He sent Bikash as our porter guide. Bikash is very lovely, patience & helpful. We missed Bikash after trekking. It’s an unforgettable upper dolpo trek for us. We met again on 14 November 2017. Here we are taking a picture together. We highly recommended Nepal Wilderness Trekking. See you when I see you Himal & Bikash
Thank you so much for organizing our trip Nar And Phu Valley, we had the perfect time with our guide Bir Gurung, and I will recommend Nepal Wilderness trekking and guide Bir Gurung.
Our Guide Lal Gurung and Porter Dev Raj lead us Nar Phu Trek, it was beautiful, fantastic hidden valley trek of Annapurna area, we have been almost every trekking region in Nepal, but we love so much Nar Phu Trek less crowded, it is similar to Tibet and people are amiable.
Nar Village is beautiful, and Phu is also lovely and historical Buddhism monastery and typical old Gompa, we enjoy so much doing this trekking, Nepal Wilderness Trekking agency is well organize trekking agency and fast response, we already finalized for our next trip with Nepal Wilderness Trekking, Mr. Himal Ghale.
Thank you so much Nepal Wilderness trekking guide Team, we had a great time to Annapurna Base Camp 7 days trekking; it was matching with our time itinerary.
I still miss you our guide “Lal Gurung” he is a great guide and fluent English and also many customer trekking Review, I love Annapurna Base Camp and want more time to stay, but unfortunately little time, I love food of hotel Gangapurna at MBC lunch and Hotel snow land in ABC.
Recently we did Annapurna base camp trek 7 days with Nepal Wilderness trekking Agency Team.
It was a wonderful time with our guide Ghale and porter Laxman, thank you so much for making easy our trip and best service and take care of us all the time, we recommend Nepal Wilderness trekking agency without any hesitations and we also come back to do other trekking in the futures.
I used Himal to organize a porter and book my flights to Lukla. When I arrived in Kathmandu, I went to his office, paid for the plane, received the tickets and told me a porter would be waiting for me when I arrived at Lukla airport – which he was (even though I came 6hrs late).
I requested a porter that could speak some English which is what I got (around $US18 a day, and he carried the 20kg for my friend and me). He was excellent – he walked on ahead and had organized accommodation by the time we arrived in each village.
But if you need a guide or anything else in any region in Nepal, Himal can sort it out. I found him professional and efficient. Surprisingly so – it was a leap of faith to use his service as I saw him on the internet as I just needed a porter and the flights, not a whole tour and wanted to do it cheaply, on our own so we could go at our own pace. Himal organized this for us.
My advice to anyone doing Everest Base Camp trek, get a porter, drink 5 liters of water a day, and add in an extra day on the trek. I added in 3 extra days, went slower and we didn’t even have a headache.
I recommend using Himal. He made my trek stress free and organized everything for when I arrived in Nepal.
Gokyo valley Chola Pass trekking incredible Everest and Makalu Peak View from Gokyo Ri, at 2016 Oct, guide Dewan Rai and Porter Bikram Tamang, Subash rai.
It was excellent trekking and guide and porters, and every evening card trick makes us refresh our journey, thank you Nepal Wilderness Trekking guide Team, we thoroughly recommend our friend to Nepal Wilderness trekking agency for trekking to Everest Gokyo Valley, we also love to back in the futures to do Annapurna Base Camp.
Mera peak from Khare to summit with climbing guide Asman Tamang 2016 with Nepal wilderness Trekking agency, it was great timing our group fist on the top in mass climbers, we appreciated with Mr. Himal Ghale and NWT Team, thank you again and see you next time in Nepal another peak climbing.
Heidi and I think back to our trek to Everest base camp and wish to return in the future. Your service was perfect, and we couldn’t have been happier.
We want to write a testimonial for you, your company, and for Ambar. Should we write the testimonial in an email to you, or should we write it somewhere on your website? What is your site? I lost the information on my travels.
Lastly, I have some pictures that I would like printed and sent to Ambar. I would be happy to pay for the cost of writing the images, and any price associated with having them shipped to Ambar. Could you help us by having them printed locally and sent?
Thank you again for the fantastic experience.
Our trip with Prakash over Cho La and Renjo La was beautiful! We were delighted with the service and support that Prakash delivered. He has a bright future and is suited to his role as guide. Even though we only needed his services as a porter, we would recommend him to anyone as a guide due to his professional attitude and excellent English.
I will be pleased to provide a testimonial shortly and look forward to using your services again in the future.
Until then, may you have good health and good fortune
Nepal Wilderness Trekking is taking care of our trekking to Gokyo Ri trekking, and I had a lovely time experiencing the fresh air, beautiful weather and good Nepali food. Friendly guide Lal Gurung and porters Ramesh.
I also had a spectacular experience to see a fantastic sunrise over the Everest Top and Makalu from Gokyo Ri, A right place for photographers to shoot. It was quite inspiring as we could see the entire Gokyo valley and was also a cold day – nice to walk in the shade and breathe in the clean mountain fresh air. And finally thanks for taking care of our entire trip to Nepal Gokyo Valley (Gokyo Ri) Trekking, we had a great time and of course our next trip we already decided our next trip to Nepal with Nepal wilderness team.
Our group of 5 first time trekkers chose Nepal Wilderness Trekking on the recommendation of a friend. I am incredibly thankful to Himal Ghale for having managed the trek and made all arrangements to the best possible standards.
Our guide Lok Gurung was polite, friendly, helpful and resourceful to say the least. We received personalized attention throughout the trek which is very important. It was a fantastic experience, and I would recommend my friends to go with Nepal Wilderness Trekking if they wish to do the EBC or other treks in Nepal.
Thank you very much for the beautiful experience and kindness with your team. Lok and Lam as Porter are a friendly and kind person for Mardi trek. Lok is an excellent guide and organized our trekking that comes right on time.
So, we will choose your team for our next trekking again and would recommend the Nepal Wilderness Trekking company to other trekkers. Thank you again for your help, and we look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Excellent experience with my guide Dhyan Bahadur exploring the high elevation permanent Sherpa communities on the Dudh Khosi and Bhote Khosi valleys.
Highly recommend visiting some of the ornate monasteries for beautiful statues of Chenrezig, Guru Rinpoche, and Tara.
Before the Everest base camp trip, may want to meet with a Tibetan medical practitioner for medicine for high altitude acclimatization Maybe a better choice than Diamox and can avoid the “Khumbu” a cough. Highly recommend catching the alpenglow from Everest View Hotel.
Hi, Himal. Just wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic trek up to EBC. We had fantastic weather all the way up. The clouds started only on our way down from Kala Pattar and stayed most of the way down, but the mornings were still lovely.
We wanted to thank you for your help in organizing our porter/guide and porter. They were great guys and worked very hard to make sure our trip went well. Prakash was always very eager to help us in any way possible. He was still watching the other guides and improving his guiding skills as the trip went on and his English was better than we expected for a porter/guide.
We were also surprised by how much English Milan knew, and he often helped us communicate. Thanks again, hope the rest of the season goes well Dean & Laynni
I spent 16 days trekking with friends through the Tamang Heritage, Langtang, Gosaikund Lakes, and Helambu Valley. Our group consisted of eight people and four porters. The Himal team was superb—friendly, efficient, and helpful.
It was an incredible experience, and special thanks to Ek Bahadur, Prem Bahadur, Hari, and Onil from the Himal team. Thank you, Himal, for your expertise and kindness.
I am Matteo 74′ from Italy. I spent more than two weeks in Nepal, doing trekking with Himal tourist agency (Nepal wilderness trekking (P) I can say that they are very experienced and professional. Thank you, Himal !!! I have done a fantastic experience of life and trip. Ciao
Nepal Wilderness Trekking provided the experience of a lifetime! My wife and I are veteran travelers/explorers, but without Himal’s company, our trek to Everest base camp would not have been nearly as enjoyable.
Himal was extraordinarily generous and allowed us to customize our trek as we saw the best fit. He was a professional and accommodated all needs from the first time we contacted his company to the moment we ended our trek.
Amber, our trek porter/guide, was terrific. He is an extraordinarily kind and hardworking man whom I hold in the highest regard. The effort gave to ensure we enjoyed our trek was remarkable, and when we return to Nepal, we would never consider choosing anyone else to be our guide. He always put safety first, had an excellent knowledge of the terrain, and never once minded when we wanted to stop for rest/photos (which was exceptionally often since we are into photography). Before and after our trip, Amber invited us to his home to enjoy a meal with his family. He isn’t just a guide, but a friend.
I want to thank both Himal and Amber for providing an experience we will never forget. We look forward to seeing you again in the future.
Sept 2013 as independent hikers. Traveled with 2 Adult children. The dealings (both via email and in person) with Himal were efficient, helpful and smooth, even though I was skeptical. Dewan was our Porter/guide, and we used an additional porter. On the trek, we were very confident in and comfortable with Dewan.
Especially once he worked out the family dynamics! He is very resourceful even cooking our meals when we got to places where the kitchen. We had a great and safe time. Would like use again and recommend.
I recently went on the Langtang with Nepal Wilderness Trekking, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Himal patiently answered all my questions via email, ensuring I felt prepared and confident before I even arrived. The entire trip was well-organized, from my arrival to my departure at the airport.
Our guide, Lok, was excellent. He was flexible and always concerned about my well-being throughout the trek. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, making every step worthwhile.
Overall, I highly recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking for their professionalism, attention to detail, and the incredible experience they provide.
I chose Nepal Wilderness Trekking on the recommendation of a friend, and I could not have been happier. My trek along the Annapurna Trail was amazing. This trek has undoubtedly made me fall in love with the natural beauty of the Himalayas and the kindness of the Nepalese people.
In the office, Himal and his team have been prompt and professional in their communications. Throughout the planning process, Himal helped me design an ideal itinerary to accommodate my schedule and trekking interests. His team was also extraordinarily helpful once I landed in Kathmandu.
On the trail, my guide Lal provided an experienced and helpful insight into the natural beauty of the trek and the local communities we passed along the way. Be warned: Lal is also an excellent card player.
Nepal Wilderness trekking took all of the stress out of my trip planning and provided a trek that can only be described as excellent. I certainly recommend using their services for any trekking in Nepal.
September 2012. My friend Katharina and I spent two great weeks on the Annapurna circuit thanks to our guide Chitra. He is indeed a very reliable, experienced and always friendly and helpful guide. And not to forget Himal and his excellent organization. We can warmly recommend making this trip!
We used the Nepal Wilderness Trekking company for a 19 day “3 Pass Trek” in the Everest region, in October 2012. Himal Ghale, the owner, was highly knowledgeable about the Everest Region having worked there as a Guide in the past.
Himal organized a tailor-made itinerary for us, based on our interests, abilities and time commitments.
That is included the “3 Passes” route, Everest Base Camp and Kala Pattar, and the addition of a summit of Island Peak. Himal was very responsive in answering our initial questions (remotely), meet with us in Kathmandu, and dealt with some challenges that arose from unforeseen weather conditions.
We were also delighted with our assigned Porter/Guide – named “BB.” BB provided first class support to us throughout the trek and lived up to his reputation as a reliable and highly experienced Porter/Guide. Amazingly, BB had competed over the past eight years in the Tensing/ Hillary Everest Marathon!! He knew the region exceptionally well, including the many route variations and options we could take for different terrain/altitude, and chose excellent guest houses for us to stay at BB was well known, respected and welcomed by guest house proprietors along the way. He was also a very kind and caring gentleman – we will always remember BB with great fondness, respect, and gratitude for a wonderful trekking experience.
We wish Himal well over the future years and would recommend the Nepal Wilderness Trekking company to other trekkers for the Everest region.
Hi, we did Lukla – Everest Base Camp – Kala Patthar – Lukla with Himal and we are delighted with his services. The best thing is the way he makes you feel comfortable by answering patiently to all your questions along with giving you the best people n best possible rates. Would love to do more n more treks in Nepal n all will be with Himal. thank you
Gokyo Valley trek – Everest Base Camp via Cho La Pass
My girlfriend and I arranged to do the Gokyo Valley Cho La Pass and EBC trek through Himal, and we were pleased with the result. Dewan Rai, our guide cum porter, was a knowledgeable, kind, and altogether great person.
He taught us a Nepali card game and generally enhanced the experience. I highly recommend both Dewan and Nepal Wilderness Trekking and will use them on any future treks in Nepal. Michael Seattle, WA, USA
Short (4 days) trekking from Lukla to Namche. All formalities like air tickets, permits and porter/guide arranged by Himal from Nepal Wilderness. Perfect organization, professional and helpful. Thank you, Himal – great job. I highly recommended Nepal Wilderness and our guide Bir Tamang.
Searching hours on the internet; we found Nepal wilderness treks, and we are so grateful we did booked the trek with them.
They planned a fantastically rich and varied tour of Nepal for our family of 3, including our daughter Meg who is 10. After two days resting and sightseeing in KTM, we travelled to Pokora for the start of a 9-day trek including Poon hill, part of the Annapurna circuit, hot springs and lots of Dal Bhat. That was made even more special by our Guide, (Purna) and Porter (Mann) who played cards, did tricks and Nepalese games.
Their attention and friendship made the trip for all of us but especially for Meg. After the trek, we stayed in Pokhara for a few days canoeing, and even paragliding (frontier paragliding) which was fantastic and a must do. After that, we had the safari in Chitwan and 2-day excursions to Nagarkot.
All of which were brilliantly coordinated by Himal. The transfers and traveling in Nepal is made so easy by his organization. We were impressed by the accommodation we stayed in The food and hospitality in Nepal are second to none, and I thoroughly recommend Nepal and Himal and his team; it was indeed a holiday of a lifetime!
My name is Vasili Mladinov Just finished 18 days Everest base camp trekking with my best friends. It was fantastic, beautiful weather and a great crew. Thank you, Himal for great organization of our tour.
Every question was answered quick the same time, and all the tours and transportation was on time, accommodating was good, so we were pleased. Special thanks to our guide Purna with his knowledge and help during all trip. Next trip to Annapurna will go with the same guys, Nepal Wilderness Trekking
My photography trip and trekking to Annapurna Base Camp was a huge success because the Nepal Wilderness team understands my needs and they put safety beyond everything. Highly recommended
I am Ical from Indonesia, ABC was my second trip (2012)with NWT, the first one was Gosaikunda Pass (2011). As per my experienced, Himal and his colleagues, Lal Gurung and Chitra Gurung treated me not only as a guest but also as a friend, I appreciated it. Next trip, HBC, I will be with NWT again, I hope.
An unforgettable experience to trek to the foot of one of the most dangerous mountains in the Himalayan region, which is Annapurna base camp. The views of Annapurna 1 and South Annapurna are amazing and surreal. Himal is kind and helpful to any request and information. Lal Gurung is not just a porter guide but also become a friend during our eight days Annapurna base camp trek. He made our trek more colorful with his knowledge and guidance and even his help to order our lunch and dash to secure our bed. Will definitely back to trek in Nepal!!
Annapurna base camp For my boyfriend, Marcus and I, Nepal has always been on our bucket list for years. Finally, after much thought and planning, we set off on Nov 7th, 2012 with Nepal Wilderness on an 11 days hike on the Annapurna base camp. Our guide was Purna Gurung and our friendly porter, Jagadish. We wanted to hire a local company and not a foreign one, so I found Himal at Nepal Wilderness. He was prompt, efficient, knowledgeable, and thorough.
All our emails were answered promptly which made our planning a breeze. All we had to do was pack our bags and hope for the best;) And we were not disappointed. We were met at Kathmandu airport by Himal himself the first night, after our flight from Hong Kong that was delayed for 3 hours. That’s a usual occurrence for Nepal airlines as we found out 🙂 We were delighted that everything e.g passes, domestic tickets are all organized. Good start for the holiday 🙂 We were met in Pokhara by Purina. His Dynamic character shows immediately.
It was Jagadish first job as a potter, but his cheerful character and willingness were such a blessing for the trek ahead. Our experience cannot be as rewarding if it’s not for Purna’s expertise. Purna has extensive knowledge of his country concerning flora and fauna, geographical, culture and history. He was patient, always explaining our day, taking care of our every need, waiting up for us lovebirds), taking pictures which he is superb at, sitting down to get to know us… genuinely.
He relentlessly introduces us to his culture as we were fortunate the festival of light was in full gear. We danced, sang and drank alongside the locals. Purna has a great sense of humor, very engaging, we became good friends and had such a ball on the trek) One of the most intriguing night is where we all sat down with friends we met along the trek by a campfire singing and just getting to know each other and soaking in the beauty around us…magical! Himal, Purna and Jagadish have proven to be great ambassadors for their country. We highly recommend their services. Our trip to Nepal was enriching and memorable, especially having met these 3 beautiful people! 😉 Sometimes uphill, some time downhill, rei sam

I recommend Nepal Wilderness Trekking agency Himal Ghale firstly for his professionalism. He was flexible, prompt in his email communication, punctual for meetings and clear in what he was providing. If you want reliability, this is your man.
Himal purchased out permits and fixed us up with a porter guide (Diwan from Lukla) and a porter for our trek in the Gokyo valley in November 2012. We were delighted with the two of them and also the backup support from Himal’s friend in Lukla’ (who was help at the airport). He also arranged a one-hour class with a teacher of Nepalese language. That proved very useful.
ABC Trek October 2012, Chitra guided me on 7-day trekking to ABC even though we finished it in 6 days.
Chitra speaks fluent English, and he is very kind. Himal organized my trekking to ABC very well at a reasonable price, and he was very flexible for my sudden schedule change. ABC trekking was one of the best trekking I have ever had. Excellent foods, kind people and a lot of things to see in Nepal. Visiting Nepal, particularly ABC trekking is highly recommended.
Everest Base Camp trekking, This is our first trekking in Nepal, and we did the EBC in Oct 2012. Through the Internet, we located Nepal Wilderness Trekking.
We started liaising with Himal for our needs, and he is extremely prompt, responsive and thorough for all our requests and most of the time exceeding our expectations. Without his help, we wouldn’t have been able to enjoy our trek as much as we did.
Even after our trek was completed, he helped us plan and arrange other trips in Nepal. Himal is extremely pleasing and a wonderful human being. Always going out of the way to ensure that his clients are more than comfortable. Needless to add, all our future dealings for trekking in the Himalayas will be with Himal.
I’m KJ from Malaysia who had recently (Oct 2012) completed a fantastic 10-day trek to Langtang Trek with Lal Gurung from nepalindependentguide.com (Nepal Wilderness Trek agency).
Among few of my previous treks that range from Everest-Gokyo via Chola Pass, Ladakh, Source of Ganges to the easy Singalila Trek in India, the recent Langtang trek absolutely stands out in my memory, not only because of the beautiful mountain view of Lantang along with its rich fauna & Tamang culture, but most importantly it was the great hospitality and companionship extended by Lal Gurung that made the trek fabulous and memorable. Lal Gurung knows the area and culture well and would not hesitate to accommodate any reasonable request shall I wish to understand more about the local culture or make changes in my itineraries/activities.
He has been merely one of the best guides I’ve ever trekked.
There are things you play within your mind for a long time before you can step into. I was dreaming of Manaslu trek for many years, and when finally the opportunity came I was both excited and stressed. The stress was the result of the high expectations.
I’m one of those guys that organize his trips independently. The reason is quite simple, especially in the mountains I prefer not to be bothered by the problems and constraints that can arise when relying on guides or agencies. But this time I had no choice, the guide was mandatory. Luckily I found Himal (one of the more reliable and honest agencies in Kathmandu in my experience) who took care of the bureaucratic side.
When I was introduced to Bir that was going to be our guide, the actual person that could have turned our coming days for the good (on a trek you spend a lot of time with your team mates!). And actually, he was central to our experience. He was always careful about our needs (helping even beyond his duties)and genuinely open to our ideas and request (never pushed us faster or slower than what we intended to do).
One of the sweetest person I ever had the opportunity to share a trek with. I would definitely recommend both Himal and Bir. Excellent each in their work. I’m sure the same trip would not have been as pleasant without their support and guidance.
My name is John Cayless, owner-operator of a travel business called Asian Experience. I have had the very great pleasure of knowing and working with Himal for the last 16 years, and during that time, Himal has travelled with our groups on numerous treks.
Himal is an experienced guide with a broad wealth of knowledge on not only trekking and all that entails, but also the people, culture, and traditions of Nepal. He’s professional, reliable, honest, thoughtful, and friendly, has a great sense of humor, is an excellent communicator, and will do his utmost to ensure that all those who travel with our groups have a memorable experience. We cannot speak more highly of Himal…..he’s a beautiful person, an exceptional guide, and a huge asset to us.

I had an excellent experience trekking with Himal Ghale in the Langtang trek in September 2007. Himal was very professional and well-versed in the trails, geography, and cultural traditions of the areas we visited.
His friendly personality and positive outlook made the trek immensely enjoyable. Himal had a good rapport with the tea-house owners, allowing us to spend more time engaging with these families, making my experience culturally enriching. He spoke excellent English and could translate easily.
On our last day in Langtang, Himal woke me up at dawn to go hiking under crystal clear skies. Given that this was a monsoon hike, this clear morning was extraordinary. Thanks to Himal, I was able to see the sunrise over the Himalayan peaks surrounding the Langtang Valley—a spectacular view and a fantastic experience. Himal truly went the extra mile, making my trek in Nepal unforgettable.
Three Passes Trek & Island Peak – An Incredible Adventure
I just completed the Three Passes Trek — crossing Renjo La, Cho La, and Kongma La Passes, as well as visiting Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, and finally summiting Island Peak — all organized by Nepal Wilderness Trekking.
It was a truly unforgettable adventure. Everything was planned and executed perfectly, thanks to Himal and our outstanding guide Purna. Their professionalism, experience, and attention to detail made the entire journey smooth and enjoyable.
I highly recommend this team to anyone looking to explore the Himalayas — you’ll be in great hands!
Three Passes Trek, Challenging, Rewarding, and Unforgettable
We truly enjoyed our Three Passes Trek — it was both challenging and incredibly rewarding. The views were absolutely magnificent, and the overall experience was one we’ll never forget.
Our guides, Purna and Bir, did an excellent job. They were flexible when we wanted to adjust our plans, always helpful, and constantly supportive throughout the trek. Their positive attitude and kind personalities gave us the motivation we needed, especially during the tough climbs and in the cold, windy conditions.
It was a memorable journey made even better by the care and professionalism of the whole team. A big thank you to Himal, Purna, Bir, and everyone else who supported us along the way!
I arranged a solo trekking trip — the Everest View Tengboche Trek — through the internet, and choosing Himal and his team turned out to be the perfect decision for this adventure.
Although I started the trek with a companion, it quickly became clear that the trail was a bit too demanding for them. Fortunately, I had Bir Bahadur Gurung (age 53, yet full of energy and incredibly dynamic) as our guide. I entrusted him with looking after my slower-paced trekking partner while I continued with my own trek at a more comfortable rhythm.
Bir proved to be a mature, responsible, and highly dependable guide. Thanks to his professionalism, I never had to worry about my companion’s safety or well-being during the journey. His calm presence and serious approach to guiding made a huge difference, especially on a trail like the Everest View Trek.
I would highly recommend Bir Bahadur Gurung to anyone seeking a guide with a thoughtful and mature outlook on life. (There are several B.B. Gurungs online, so be sure to contact my Bir through Himal directly!)
Many thanks to Himal for organizing everything so smoothly. I hope to return one day for the Annapurna Trek — and when I do, I’ll definitely be booking through Nepal Wilderness Trekking again.
Hello, readers! My name is Thony from Indonesia. My friend and I did the Annapurna Circuit trek, including the Thorong La Pass, with Himal as our guide and Simon (a.k.a. Buddha) as our porter.
Himal and Buddha come from humble Nepali families. They are down-to-earth, honest, and hardworking individuals who are truly dedicated to their profession. We did the trek in June, during the monsoon season, but despite the weather, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our journey.
Both Himal and Buddha were incredibly friendly and made the entire trek full of laughter and joy. Himal took great care of us — organizing everything perfectly, giving useful advice, and patiently explaining anything we wanted to know. He is very experienced and speaks excellent English, which made communication easy and enjoyable.
As for Buddha, he amazed us with his strength and endurance, carrying our heavy backpacks for 10 days and still trekking faster than us! He was always smiling and brought great energy to the trip.
Himal also offered us a very reasonable and competitive price for the trek, and it was absolutely worth it. If I ever have the chance to return to Nepal, I will definitely use their services again. I miss them both very much and carry wonderful memories of this adventure.
Hi all, I used Himal Ghale’s services last April. I contacted him through email, and later we used Facebook to communicate with each other. I booked the Annapurna Base Camp trek with him and had a great time with the guide (his younger brother) and the Porter he arranged for us.
He and his brother speak English fluently, we didn’t have a problem to communicate with them, they are a natural going person, and know knowledgeable. Along the trek, we changed the itinerary many times, but our guide and porter are very flexible with our plan 🙂 The service offered by him definitely worth the price. I definitely will recommend him to my friends and will contact him again whenever I have a chance to go back to Nepal.

The guides are not only highly experienced and knowledgeable but also friendly, attentive, and passionate about their work. Their deep understanding of the local culture, history, and environment adds an extra layer of richness to the experience.
We are more than happy to assist anyone considering a trip to Nepal. Feel free to reach out — we’d be glad to share tips, photos, and videos from our journey to help you prepare.
To all visitors to beautiful Nepal, Jomsong Muktinath trekking! We are a family of five and did in March 2010 a three week trip to Nepal with Himal Ghale as our guide. We found Nepal amazing in two main aspects: of course, the Himalayas are breathtaking and worth themselves only the trip to Nepal; but we also loved very much our encounters with local people and understanding of the local customs and culture, all facilitated by Himal. Our cultural experiences during our visit fascinated all of us (kids included) and were a great and unexpected addition to our trip.
We believe we were able to enjoy such a rich Nepalese cultural experience thanks to our guide. Himal speaks excellent English and also has a lot of knowledge of the mountains and the people living in them, including many aspects of their culture. He liked to share his experience and was always ready to answer our endless questions. Being with kids (three boys, ages 13, 11, and 6), we did less walking per day than typical tourists do. Therefore we arrived to guest houses early in the afternoon, which left us time to be guided by Himal to visits of the villages we stopped in (we flew to Jomsom, walked to Marpha, then took a jeep to Tatopani, climbed to Poon-hill, and walked down the other side to take the bus back to Pokhara – 6 days). We strongly recommend this slower pace as it enables the visitor to see more of the local ways of life, giving an additional dimension to the trek.
Himal was also very sensitive to our family needs: he has a great ability to feel when to leave us alone as a family, and when to be more involved and help, explain, translate with locals, show, and excite. He always knew how to manage our expectations and was very sensitive to our particular needs. His sensitivity and knowledge-sharing capabilities made us experience Nepal in many more ways than what we typically saw and heard from other tourists. We would very strongly recommend that you travel with Himal and trust you will have a beautiful and rich experience!
Other places we visited: it is also worth mentioning our visit to the Chitwan National Park, which our kids and we loved! We saw a lot of wildlife on the river and in the park (tiger droppings, five rhinos from close range, two crocodiles meters from us, a fantastic number of birds and deer), and had a great elephant experience. The guide in our lodge was professional, and this also made a significant contribution to our pleasure there (although accommodations in and around Chitwan are necessary). Regarding Kathmandu, our opinion is to stay there only when necessary, as it has become an extremely crowded town, with massive traffic jams, and a lot of noise.
Himal guided me on a ten-day trek in the Everest region, focused on visiting Tengboche Monastery. My goal was to spend time in Sherpa villages and explore the gompas in Tengboche and Pangboche. With Himal as my guide, my expectations were not only met but easily surpassed. His warm and friendly nature enriched my experience and made interactions with the local people even more meaningful.
We trekked at a pace that suited me, and the journey turned out to be much easier than I had anticipated. Since I was traveling alone, I had many questions and concerns before the trek, and I emailed Himal frequently. His prompt responses, guidance, and deep knowledge of the region helped me feel completely prepared for my first trip to Nepal and the Tengboche Monastery Trek.
I did the Annapurna Circuit Monsoon Trek with Himal, from Besisahar (Bulbule) to Jomsom, and it was a truly wonderful experience. Himal brings not only deep expertise as a trekking guide but also offers meaningful insights into Nepali life and culture, which adds a rich dimension to the journey.
We had a fantastic time together. It was so easy to connect with Himal—his friendly nature and thoughtful conversation made the days fly by as we trekked through the breathtaking landscapes of the Himalayas. The surrounding mountains were absolutely awe-inspiring and left a lasting impression.
I am Iva from Slovenia. While planning my trip to Nepal, I was looking for a guide/porter and came across many tour agencies online. As soon as I found Himal’s website – www.nepalindependentguide.com – I immediately felt I had found the right team. There was something truly appealing about the way people who had traveled with him wrote about their experiences — warm, genuine, and first-class. I’m so glad I decided to go with Himal.
He speaks and writes perfect English, which made communication and trip planning very easy and smooth.
I did the Helambu–Nagarkot trek during the monsoon season, and I can highly recommend Himal to anyone planning a trek in Nepal. If I’m ever lucky enough to return, I will definitely trek with him again.
