An ideal time for an Ama Dablam Climb expedition is in autumn, from 10 October to 10 December. During this time, hard snow and rock are covered with ice snow due to the onset of winter. Our climbing expert team will be ready in the base camp to assist you in climbing the Ama Dablam peak. As compared to autumn, spring sees a lot of snow between mid-March and the end of May. After winter and with ongoing spring showers, you can expect snow and ice in the mountains. Fresh snow in the Ama Dablam mountains certainly makes breaking the trail more difficult. There are strong Sherpas guides who can exert harder energy than Autumn. Climbers should expect some weather-related disruptions during their summit window. During the Spring season, one can also climb the Ama Dablam from the month of March to the end of May, but there will be a lot of snow on the mountain compared to autumn. The mountains are covered in ice after a long winter and with ongoing spring showers, the fresh snow in the mountain certainly makes breaking the trail a lot harder to climb, climbers can expect some weather-related disturbances during the summit window when they are planning to the summit at Spring season.
Ama Dablam Climb is a fascinating snow-capped peak in the Everest region at a height of 6,812 meters above sea level. Its name comes from the Sherpa language. For acclimatization before climbing Ama Dablam Peak, it is better to climb either Lobuche peak or Island Peak which are both over 6000 meters in height. Can we rent climbing gear at Base camp?
No, there is no gear hiring shop in the Ama Dablam base camp, so you either have to bring from your country or need to hire from Dingboche. Hotel Good Luck in Dingboche has climbing equipment hire available.

Ama Dablam expedition cost
Ama Dablam’s expedition cost is USD 4000 per person for a 15 Days Expedition joint from the Ama Dablam Base camp. The costs include transportation, meals, and other facilities such as tents, camping, High Altitude tents, and so on. We recommend that you ascend Mt. Ama Dablam Expedition during the autumn season.
Please note: if someone from your family, friends, or beloved wishes to celebrate your successful summit with you, they can visit Nepal during the celebration period, and trek to the Ama Dablam base camp trek.
Detail Itinerary
- Day 01: AMA DABLAM BASE CAMP 4572m. trek to Ama Dablam Base camp from Pangboche or from Dingboche, 4 /5 hours hike and meet our staff in the base camp. Your package trip will start from today, our climbing guide will lead you to Ama Dablam Glacier the next day and the guide will brief you on the climbing date in the details.
- Day 02 -10 - 13: days is climbing period to Ama Dablam Peak ascend and descent, after summiting the peak 6812m, back to base camp and back to normal trek as your own or with your guide porters.
