Amazing experiencein Langtang Valley.

We did a 7 day hike in langtang valley and it was the most amazing experience ever! The landscape and nature is so beautiful and we’ve been very lucky with the weather and had awesome views! Our guide was super nice, very friendly and knowledgeable about the area etc. We had a wonderful time and can definitely recommend this trip! 🙂

I just completed the 7 days Langtang valley trek. Langtang is like a piece of heaven. From day 2, the trek follows the river all the way to the source- a massive glacier. Along the trek, i saw yaks, jopkos, monkeys and spotted a wild boar too. It was just amazing. The view from Kyanjin Ri was definitely the cherry on top! My guide, Lal, is extremely knowledgeable and familiar with the route, the little villages and surroundings.

The Best Way to Bring in the New Year, Deep in the Langtang Valley.

The Langtang Valley trek and DB Basnet was amazing. I had always wanted to go to the Himalayas since I was a child. I finally accomplished this dream with close friends and we brought in the new year, 2023, deep in the Himalayas near Kyanjin Ri.

DB Basnet and his team were very professional and helped us navigate any health emergencies successfully. They were also knew a lot about the local cultures, wildlife, and climate/environmental conditions of the region. We talked at length in a Tibetan teahouse, and this inspired me to want to come back one day.

This trek with Nepal Wilderness trekking even inspired my thesis research on the Hindu Kush Himalaya region! It also gave me a further inspiration to pursue more mountains.

There are so many positive things to say about our Langtang and Tamang Heritage trek. Our guides, Bhim and Lhakpa, were excellent teachers and companions. We learned a lot, walked at a lovely pace, stayed in great tea houses, laughed a lot, played lots of card games, and tasted interesting plants and berries. Bhim and Lhakpa were always in a good mood, always fun, and always ready to laugh. After the trek, we met up twice, once as guests at Bhim’s home and once for pizza with his family. We have remained in contact with Lhakpa as well.

Oh, and the trek is absolutely stunning. As we had taken time to acclimatize, we did not experience any altitude sickness problems, and although it was challenging at times, it was never extremely difficult. The majority of the pictures are stunning.

The Langtang region was an amazing place to trek. His knowledge of the landscape and local culture, as well as his familiarity with everyone along the route, made him an excellent guide! A special moment was when he and some friends in Langtang played some traditional Tibetan songs on a Tibetan guitar. In the mountains, we had a porter named Dawa who was very nice and an absolute speed demon – a very nice young man with a generous heart. I was very pleased with the organization of the trip. Himal communicated with us prior to our arrival in Nepal, and we met at the office the day before the trek to review the equipment and gear. Langtang 5 day trek

We just returned from a spectacular trek in Langtang National Park with my wife. Before arriving in Kathmandu, we emailed Himal – he was very responsive and helpful (we hadn’t planned anything in advance) – and after speaking with a couple of other agents, we decided he was the most qualified. 

Our expectations were not disappointed. During the trek, he arranged our guide – Lal Gurung – who was outstanding. Ask for Lal if you book with Himal and you’ll be extremely well taken care of. He really added to the experience by having extensive knowledge of the region. 

We will be booking with only one team when we return.

Awesome Langtang Trekking

Himal’s agency is outstanding. Langtang was done in 9 days (started in Dunche, ended in Syabrubesi) + 2 bus rides. (Transportation, meals, guest houses, …), our guide and porters were really friendly and professional, our guide kept us informed at all times, and the meals and guest houses were really good. If you want to see Langtang in a perfect way, this is the agency to go to! Highly recommended!

Trekking with the family in Langtang

During our two trips to Nepal in April 2013 and May 2014, we enjoyed fantastic treks with Nepal Wilderness Trekking. We were a family of four with two children aged 3 and 7. The kids had a great time. The majority of the time, my son spent in a porter’s basket, which he loved, where he napped often. I appreciated the fact that the staff enjoyed children so much. The second trip I took was just my son, my brother, and my 77-year-old mother. The NWT staff was also very flexible and accommodating during this trip. I cannot say enough good things about them, and whenever we talk about Nepal, we always recommend them to our friends.

We had a wonderful time. As we visited in October 2015, he made more than expected arrangements for us, that too during the difficult post-earthquake recovery period. We are grateful.

For the Langtang Trek, we traveled with our guide Lal Gurung. I could not have asked for a better person to guide our small family group than Lal, who was a wonderful guide and took care of all our needs and requests. After we reached Kyanjin Gompa, we completed the trekking part of our trip since we were traveling into the Christmas break. Lal arranged for a charter helicopter to pick us up from almost directly out front of the tea house and take us straight to the airport in Kathmandu after we had explored the area for a few days. The journey itself was incredible; flying through the Himalayas on Christmas Day with all of the highest peaks in the world surrounding us under crystal clear skies all the way back.

The trek itself was a tough first few days of steep climbing trails through beautiful forest and mountain valleys, then it opened up as we progressed. As the earthquake has left its mark in various areas, crossing some of the rockfalls and slides definitely brings home the lives lost and damage done in the region. Great to see all the work that has been done and is still being done on the re-building. The tea houses all had great facilities, and the local owners made the experience unforgettable. Himal at Nepal Wilderness Tours selected the perfect guide for our family and made sure the helicopter picked us up on Christmas Day. A big thank you to Lal for being an amazing guide and now friend, and to Himal for bringing us together.

Our Trek to Langtang

I recently went on the Langtang with Nepal Wilderness Trekking, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Himal patiently answered all my questions via email, ensuring I felt prepared and confident before I even arrived. The entire trip was well-organized, from my arrival to my departure at the airport.

Our guide, Lok, was excellent. He was flexible and always concerned about my well-being throughout the trek. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, making every step worthwhile.

Langtang Valley Trek

I’m KJ from Malaysia who had recently (Oct 2012) completed a fantastic 10-day trek to Langtang Trek with Lal Gurung from nepalindependentguide.com (Nepal Wilderness Trek agency).

Among few of my previous treks that range from Everest-Gokyo via Chola Pass, Ladakh, Source of Ganges to the easy Singalila Trek in India, the recent Langtang trek absolutely stands out in my memory, not only because of the beautiful mountain view of Lantang along with its rich fauna & Tamang culture, but most importantly it was the great hospitality and companionship extended by Lal Gurung that made the trek fabulous and memorable. I had an excellent experience trekking with Himal Ghale in the Langtang region in September 2007. Himal was very professional and well-versed in the trails, geography, and cultural traditions of the areas we visited.

His friendly personality and positive outlook made the trek immensely enjoyable. Himal had a good rapport with the tea-house owners, allowing us to spend more time engaging with these families, making my experience culturally enriching. He spoke excellent English and could translate easily.

On our last day in Langtang, Himal woke me up at dawn to go hiking under crystal clear skies. Given that this was a monsoon hike, this clear morning was extraordinary. Thanks to Himal, I was able to see the sunrise over the Himalayan peaks surrounding the Langtang Valley—a spectacular view and a fantastic experience.
