Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Journey from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, depart from Kathmandu in the early morning, and travel by shared jeep to Syabrubesi, a small but bustling town located at an elevation of 1,960 m. The journey takes approximately 7 hours and covers a distance of 122 km. The road winds through scenic landscapes, including terraced fields, rural villages, and the foothills of the Langtang region. As you leave the Kathmandu Valley, you will pass through the Trishuli Bazaar, a major trading hub, before ascending through lush forests and picturesque valleys. Syabrubesi is the gateway to the Langtang Valley and serves as a meeting point for trekkers and locals. It is home to a mix of Tamang and Sherpa communities who follow Tibetan Buddhist traditions. The town offers basic amenities and a range of teahouses and lodges for trekkers. Overnight stay in Syabrubesi.
  • Day 02: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel, begin your trek by crossing the Bhote Koshi River and following the Langtang Khola. The trail ascends gradually through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and bamboo. This area is part of the Langtang National Park, which is rich in biodiversity and home to wildlife such as red pandas, Himalayan black bears, and langurs. Along the way, you will pass through small settlements like Doman and Pairo. The Tamang people in these villages have a deep-rooted Buddhist culture influenced by Tibetan traditions. You will also notice several Chortens (Buddhist shrines) and prayer wheels along the trail. After approximately 6 hours of trekking and covering 14 km, you will arrive at Lama Hotel (2,470 m), a peaceful settlement surrounded by forested hills. Overnight stay at a lodge in Lama Hotel.
  • Day 03: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village, Today, the trail gradually ascends as you follow the Langtang River upstream. The path takes you through a combination of pine and rhododendron forests. In spring, the rhododendron blooms add vibrant colors to the landscape. Keep an eye out for Himalayan pheasants and other bird species that inhabit this region. After about 3 hours, you will reach Ghodatabela (3,030 m), a small clearing with a few lodges and excellent views of Langtang Lirung (7,227 m), the highest peak in the region. Historically, this area was used as a horse grazing meadow, which gives the place its name (Ghoda = horse, Tabela = stable). Continue trekking for another 3 hours through yak pastures and traditional Tamang villages until you reach Langtang Village (3,430 m). The village, once devastated by the 2015 earthquake, has since been rebuilt and remains an essential cultural and trading center for the region. Overnight stay at a lodge in Langtang Village.
  • Day 04: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa This is a shorter day of trekking, taking about 3 hours to reach Kyanjin Gompa (3,870 m). The trail ascends gradually as you pass through yak pastures and small settlements. As you climb higher, the valley opens up to reveal breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks, including Langtang Lirung and Dorje Lakpa. Upon arrival at Kyanjin Gompa, you will find a picturesque village with a famous Buddhist monastery that gives the place its name. The monastery is an important spiritual site for the local Tamang people and offers insights into their religious practices and culture. After lunch, you can take an optional hike to Kyanjin Ri (4,800 m), a viewpoint that provides panoramic views of the Langtang Himal range, including Yala Peak, Langshisa Ri, and other towering summits. Overnight stay at a lodge in Kyanjin Gompa.
  • Day 05: Trek back from Kyanjin Gompa to Rimche Danda, After breakfast, begin your descent along the same route, retracing your steps through Langtang Village and Ghodatabela. The return trek takes approximately 6 hours and covers around 14 km. As you descend, you will notice a change in vegetation as the alpine landscapes give way to lush forests and riverside trails. Rimche Danda is a peaceful spot near the Lama Hotel where you will spend the night. Overnight stay at a lodge in Rimche Danda.
  • Day 06: Trek from Rimche Danda to Syabrubesi via Sherpa Gaun and Khangjim Village, Today, you will take an alternative route back to Syabrubesi via the traditional Sherpa village of Sherpa Gaun and the scenic Khangjim Village. This route offers a more immersive cultural experience and stunning views of the Ganesh Himal range. The trail winds through terraced fields, pine forests, and small villages where you can observe daily life and interact with locals. The Tamang and Sherpa communities here are known for their hospitality and their unique blend of Tibetan and Nepali cultures. The trek takes approximately 6-7 hours and covers about 16 km before reaching Syabrubesi. Overnight stay in Syabrubesi.
  • Day 07: Return to Kathmandu, After breakfast, board a local bus for the return journey to Kathmandu.
