Since the terrain can be hard and the days long, hikers on these treks should be in good physical condition and have some previous mountain walking experience. Steep climbing may be involved, although it is never necessary to use ropes. Treks at this level can he arranged for periods of 16 to 21 days. Typically, a gradual ascent through a green river valley will lead you up to a number of high passes, where you will reach the altitude of 5416m. Often times, you will get a close insight into the Tibetan culture. Participants should expect to trek above 5416m/17872ft.

Overview

Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek

Kanchenjunga trek is one of the Wilderness and unspoiled trekking trails in the north-east part of Nepal. This trail is only the trekking trail that leads to the Base camp of Third highest mountains of the world. Kanchenjunga circuit trek lies in a remote area of Taplejung.

Kanchenjunga can translate as “Five treasure of the Great snow”. This route was first opened in 1988 for the foreigners to trek in this region. Mt. Kanchenjunga Himal is regarded as the third highest mountain in the world with an elevation of 8586m. And there is Kanchenjunga conservation area too which established in 1997 covering the land of 2,035 km2. Until 1852 Kanchenjunga trek was assumed to be the highest mountains in the world and on may 25, 1849 two climbers summit to the Kanchenjunga top by Joe Brown and George Band from British expedition.

In the past time, there was only the camping or organised trek to go to the Kanchenjunga trail, but at present, there are tea houses and lodges where you can to teahouse trek and Homestay can be done. If you prefer to do the tea house trek, then you have to be flexible in eating because you don’t find food like in western style. Dal Bhat (plain rice and lentils soup) is the food that you get mostly.

In this region you can find local people with the different ethnic group of Rai, Sherpa having different traditional cultures and different languages with their mother tongue.

The Kanchenjunga-tea house trek offers a variety of scenery, beautiful Himalayans Views, gains higher mountain, gorgeous Panorama views of Kanchenjunga Himal, Bokta peak and Makalu Himal. When you do Kanchenjunga Circuit trek you hike through terraced fields, picturesque villages, green forests, enters into a ridge line of Rhododendron forest, Chauki and Gupha Pokhari. Gupha Pokhari is the most beautiful rhododendron blooming place in the spring season. Some trekkers explore seven-night eight days Rhododendron trek starting from Basantapur and ending in Taplejung.

  • Day 01: Arrive at the international airport; meet at the international airport in Kathmandu and transport to hotel in Moonlight, 
  • Day02: Kathmandu Valley full day sightseeing with a professional guide.
  • Day 03: Kathmandu – Basantapur Fly to Biratnagar and 6-hour drive to Basantapur.
  • Day 04: Trek to Chauki - 4 - 5 hours overnight at the local tea house.
  • Day 05: Trek to Gupha Pokhari - 3 - 4 hours overnight at the local tea house.
  • Day 06: Trek to Gurgaon - 3- 4 hours overnight at the local tea house.
  • Day 07: Trek to Dovan 730m - 5 - 6 hours overnight at the local tea house.
  • Day 08: Trek to Mitlung 921m - 4 - 5 hours overnight at the local tea house.
  • Day 09: Trek to Chirwa 170m - 5 - 6 hours overnight at the local tea house.

  • Day 17: Trek back to Ghunsa (3595 m) overnight in a local guesthouse.
  • Day 18: Trek to Selele (4300 m) - 5 - 6 hours overnight in a basic tea house.
  • Day 19: Trek Sele La – Sinion La Pass (4460 m) – Mirgin La Pass (4480 m) – Sinelapcha La Pass (4646 m) – Tseram (3870 m) - 7 - 8 hours. Overnight at the local tea house,
  • Day 20: Day hiking to Oktang Base Camp - 5 - 6 hours. We go for day hiking to Oktang to observe the Kanchenjunga South and return to Tseram for Overnight stay at the local tea house.
  • Day 21: Trek to Torangden (2995m) - 3 - 4 hours overnight at a local tea house.
  • Day 22: Trek to Yamphudin (2080m) - 5 - 6 hours overnight at a local tea house.
  • Day 23: Trek to Khebang (1910m). - 4 - 5 hours. Overnight at a local tea house
  • Day 24: Trek to Khandembe (1420 m) - 5 - 6 hours overnight at the local tea house.
  • Day 25: Trek to Medibung (1510 m) - 3 hours and drive to Kathmandu via Ilam
  • Day 26: at evening time you will be in Kathmandu same hotel as your stay before,
  • Day 27: departure day for your home country we do provide you with Airport transport,
