Founded in 1916, Tengboche Monastery is the spiritual heart of the Khumbu region and the largest monastery along the Everest trail. Though it has been destroyed and rebuilt twice due to earthquakes and fires, it remains a strong symbol of Sherpa identity and faith. Monks at Tengboche follow the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism and conduct daily rituals in the main prayer hall, creating murals of Buddhist deities.
The peaceful environment, flanked by the Himalayas, offers trekkers a moment of reflection and spiritual tranquility. Perched on a forested ridge at 3,867 meters, Tengboche provides a breathtaking panoramic backdrop of Ama Dablam, Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse rising above rolling hills and deep valleys. Take an early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. After meeting your trekking crew, begin the trek along the Dudh Koshi River, passing Sherpa villages, prayer wheels, and suspension bridges. Arrive at Phakding for an overnight stay at a lodge.

Follow the Dudh Koshi River through the valley, crossing several suspension bridges along the way. Enter Sagarmatha National Park at Monjo, where park entry formalities are completed, and continue through Jorsalle.From Jorsalle, the trail gradually becomes steeper as it follows the river toward the Hillary Bridge, one of the route’s major suspension bridges. After crossing the bridge, the trail climbs steadily through the forest toward Namche Bazaar. The final section is a sustained uphill ascent and can feel demanding due to the increasing altitude.

Today is an important acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar. Rather than staying completely inactive, you will take a short, gradual hike to a higher elevation and return to Namche to sleep at the same altitude.
After breakfast, hike toward the Sagarmatha National Park Museum and continue toward the Everest View Hotel, located at approximately 3,880m. The walk provides an opportunity to gain some elevation during the day while keeping the pace comfortable. The Everest View Hotel area offers impressive views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, Kongde Ri, Khumbila, and other surrounding peaks.
Optional Extension to Khumjung Village: If you are feeling comfortable at altitude, you can extend the hike to Khumjung Village and visit its traditional monastery.
You can take a break and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while taking in the mountain scenery. The hike is intended to support acclimatization, so the pace should be slow and relaxed.

Leave Namche Bazaar and follow the scenic trail along the hillside toward Kyangjuma, with excellent views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Lhotse on clear days. The trail is mostly gradual at first, with some short uphill and downhill sections.
Continue through rhododendron and pine forests before descending toward the Dudh Koshi River at Phunki Tenga. From here, the trail climbs steadily and sometimes steeply through the forest to Tengboche, home to the famous Tengboche Monastery and surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery.

Today you will descend through rhododendron and pine forests toward Phunki Tenga. From there, the trail climbs steadily towardKyangjuma, with views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kangtega along the way. Continue along the hillside to Khumjung Village, one of the traditional Sherpa settlements in the Khumbu region. The village is surrounded by stone-walled fields and offers a quieter experience away from the main Everest trail. If time permits, you can visit Khumjung Monastery and explore the village before settling into your lodge.

Descend fromKhumjung through rhododendron and pine forests toward Namche Bazaar, then continue downhill through the Dudh Koshi Valley. Pass throughJorsalle and cross several suspension bridges before reaching Monjo, the entrance point to Sagarmatha National Park.

Hiking: 13.5km • 4 to 5hrs
A relaxed final trekking day as you retrace the route through Phakding and the surrounding villages. Arrive in Lukla and celebrate the successful completion of your trek with your guide and porter team. Overnight at the lodge.
Flight: 35 minutes
Early morning scenic flight back to Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel and the end of your Everest View trekking adventure.
