The eye-capturing scenic beauty of the world’s highest mountain, Everest, 8848m, will not only provide you with an incredible memory, but you will also enjoy a thrilling adventure journey.
The Kala Patthar trek is an adventure trek on the left-side route of Everest Base Camp. Kala Patthar Peak is located just south of EBC with an amazing panorama of Everest and the surrounding peaks. There are many different routes to the Kala Patthar, but the most famous viewpoint of the Peak rises to 5,545 meters above sea level, which is on a parallel path with the Everest Base Camp’s ultimate distance. During the Everest Base Camp trek, you will not complete your trek if you do not summit Kala Patthar Peak during the trek.
The Everest Kala Pathar Trek takes you through the heart of the Himalayas; the trails follow the Dudhkoshi river banks, through Sherpa villages, and through mountain scenery that is characterized by rare species of flora and fauna. While walking under the gigantic Himalayas, you will be able to experience the unique culture of the Sherpa people, Buddhist monasteries that date back centuries, Chortens, Mani walls, and hardy Yaks. It is not so uncommon for trials to cross the suspension bridge over the raging river regularly.
There is a bit of fear and a lot of joy associated with it. You may be able to see wild animals such as the Himalayan Goat (Thar/Jharal), Musk Deer, colorful birds “Daphe” Nepal National Birds, and other species during the Kalapatthar Trekking. Snow leopards live in Khumbu, which is also the home of the mysterious yeti. The Everest Kala Patthar trek features Mt. Everest Base Camp, the most famous viewpoint, Kala Patthar, Khumbu Glacier, Khumbu Icefall, glacial lakes, and breathtaking mountain scenery.
The next morning, the Gorakshep to Kala Patthar peak hike needs to begin early with a flash torchlight. The hike from Gorakshep to Kala Patthar takes about two hours to summit the peak and 1 and a half hours for the descent. The 1.2 km distance between Gorakshep and Kala Patthar must be hiked slowly because of the high altitude, but you cannot walk faster due to the thin air. Ascend the south face of Kala Patthar’s north side from Gorakshep up a vague path with touch light.
Getting up early and gearing up for the hike in the dark are highly recommended, so once you find the path at the northern end of Gorakshep, get your head down and trudge uphill! Despite being on screen, the path is well-beaten and easy to follow. Once you reach the summit of Kala Patthar, you can sit down and enjoy the view – it is one of the most spectacular places. When you reach the summit by dawn, it is even better because the sun rises directly behind Everest and bathes you in light. After a couple of hours on the summit, descend to Gorakshep and begin your long hike back.
During the Kala Patthar trek, the last night will be spent in Gorakshep, situated at an elevation of approximately 5,164 meters (16,942 feet) above sea level. This small, high-altitude settlement serves as a base for trekkers aiming to summit Kala Patthar, which stands at about 5,545 meters (18,192 feet). After a challenging day of trekking, you can rest and recharge in Gorakshep before making the final ascent to Kala Patthar, offering breathtaking views of Mount Everest and the surrounding peaks.

Early morning scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. After meeting your guide and porter team, begin the trek with a gentle descent through small Sherpa villages and pine forests along the Dudh Koshi River. Reach Phakding for an overnight stay at a lodge.
